The variety of the soups are always great. The tastes are amazing. Friendly service and great atmosphere.
I love the soup tasting to help decide on what ones to order. The fresh brea or toast to go with the meal is very nice.

There are all kinds of dining options to be had in Stratford, yet there are times when only a cup of home made soup will fit the bill. Cold November days, threatening with snow are an ideal opportunity to try out Soup Surreal. There are four offerings available, and the choice is tough. The combination of delicious smells coming from the open kitchen and the tang of sourdough starter, get the gastric juices flowing. You can take out or eat in and each offering comes with a slice of toasted home made bread (sourdough or multigrain) or house made nachos.Sometimes restaurants with a limited specialty are precious; but this place fills a social need.
It is not a fancy location and the ambience is friendly and workmanlike, the eat-in experience feels honest and the soup comes up piping hot in a ceramic bowl along with hot buttered toast. I tried the spicy samosa soup and loved it; but i plan to work my way through all of the offerings.

We were in Stratford for a few days recently and picked up three frozen soups, one to eat that night and two to enjoy upon our return at home. We arrived about 30 minutes before closing and many of the frozen soups were already sold out. That forced us to adventure into new taste territory. First we picked the German sauerkraut. Not being a fan of sauerkraut I was not convinced I would like it but it was my husband's first pick. This soup is a definite winner! The amount of tanginess was just right. It was very hearty and we both loved it. Our second soup was the Moroccan tomato. When chef Derek said it was the ultimate dipping soup with grilled cheese it became an easy choice. It too was hearty and delicious. Our last selection was chicken noodle which was a disappointment. There was very little chicken in the soup, about 3 tablespoons in total. The broth was quite tasty but overall the soup was not nearly as filling as the first two soups. Working on this review I realized that the website describes the ingredients of each soup very thoroughly. Kudos to chef Derek for a great soup eatery. He was very helpful in describing the various soups. The selection of soups is extensive and we would not hesitate to try some of the others soups if we find ourselves in Stratford in the future.
