“Culinary Class is 1st Class!”
Reviewed 30 January 2012

Recently attended a Saturday cooking class as part of a culinary weekend getaway and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the company. It's a "Must-Do" in the cold winter months when nothing else is going on. Chef Aaron and his lovely wife Bronwyn were great hosts and patient instructors for our group of 5 couples. We would recommend this restaurant and event to everyone :-)

“Truly innovative cuisine”
Reviewed 20 December 2011

The offerings at Bijou at always interesting and often outstanding. While they are a little pricey and portions are not large, we've had several truly memorable meals. It's a good place to gather with "foodie" friends. They are one of the few downtown Stratford restaurants with an accessible washroom.

“not overly impressed”
Reviewed 22 October 2011

Was taken there for my birthday. Were told ahead that there were 2 vegans in our company but when we got there we were told that only tofu could be served for the vegans.... literally tofu on the plate with some caramelized onions.... it was tasty but for a restaurant of this caliber we were hoping for at least a few vegetables. Before our meals arrived we had to repeatedly ask 2 waiters who were constantly floating around us for more bread and water.
(the pieces were bit size and only one per plate) we were starving by the time our meals came. Our bill was hefty (over 100$)especially when 2 of the 4 meals were tofu, which just added to the disappointment. If you have vegans or vegetarians in your group just know that this restaurant does not accommodate for them very well, even when they've said they can.

“Really poor value”
Reviewed 17 October 2011

Went on a Saturday prior to going to a show. For the price charged, the meals served were underwhelming. My entree (Elk) was reasonable and the portion was relatively large. My partner's salmon entree was terrible. The salmon was fishy (and we love salmon), the accompanying vegetables were a terrible match for the salmon. Just retched.

The desserts were laughably presented and the srervice was really far from the standards one would expect when paying $50 for a two course menu.

Will not return.

“A gem”
Reviewed 16 October 2011

This restaurant was difficult to find, the entrance is in an alleyway, but certainly worth the trouble. We went for lunch and were treated to the best food that I have tasted in Stratford. It is far superior to the over priced old war horses. The food was beautifully presented and the flavours were sublime. Service was attentive and helpful. The chef at this establishment is very talented.
