As well as a unique experience you get a good history of
Little lake, the centennial fountain and the canal and the Lift lock.

We took two kayaks down river from Trent University and locked thru the LiftLock (#21) and Ashburnham lock (#20) and returned to Pedal'n'Paddle at the SilverBean Café

After so many years it still looks the same as when I lived in Peterborough growing up. It's a wonderful site to see.

If you are in Peterborough this is really a worthwhile place to visit. The engineering and photo op alone is worth the visit; even if you don't spend much time in the museum. We saw a poster of both locks FULL of Kayaks! That must have been one awesome day. Since it was winter there really wasn't much going on. I think the other three seasons might be the best time to visit when there is a lot more activity. Still we really did enjoy visiting the lock and taking a few pictures.

We stopped by this attraction in the summer. It was quite interesting to see how this lock works. It's quite different than any others that I have seen in the past. We watched a couple of boats go through. We didn't take a tour, just strolled by.
