Locks close after Thanksgiving weekend so they weren't working, but walking the grounds in the area was very peaceful. So many beautiful fall colours on the trees and quiet.

This short trip cruise is worth for it! It takes you up the Liftlock and turn around . The captain did a great job by acting as the touring guide also.

We had a great trip with our family from out of town. It was a great chance to enjoy the fall weather and have a solo trip up and down Peterborough's famous lock. This is well worth the effort, find a friend with a boat or use the tours available. The staff were all friendly and offered advice for our trip further up river.

We did the boat cruise and went through a smaller Lock and the Historic Lift Lock. The experience being raised 65 feet up in the air on top of the highest lift locks in the world while sitting in the boat in the lift with thousand plus litres of water was an exhilarating experience one must do if in the G.T.A. The kids enjoyed it as well though I don't think they quite understood the gravity of the unique engineering marvel they were enjoying :)

The lock is a brilliant piece of engineering that you need to see in action to fully appreciate. There are steps to walk up to the top lock or you can sit in the park by the lower lock and watch the activity on the canal. There is a small visitor centre with a shop and displays depicting the story of the lock – donations are welcomed. There is plenty of parking and washrooms. You can also get a boat trip that takes you through the locks. Worth making a detour to visit.
