I signed up for a free family tour of Parliament with them on a weekend. The line was 7 people long but the staff were quick and friendly.

For tourists, this may be a good first stop to organize your sight seeing in the city. There is information in English and French and the staff are very helpful. Close to many downtown hotels and across from the Parliament Buildings.

This should be the first place you visit if you are a tourist in Ottawa. The staff are so informative and helpful. There are tickets available for lots of attractions and that is where we got our free tickets for the Parliament tour. Bus timetables, maps and so much more. The toilets are in the basement and there is a bag drop upstairs. Around and about there were also members of their team who were only too willing to help anyone get a memorable experience of this wonderful city.

The ideal first stop on Ottawa to find out info. Not least because I couldn't find a single guide book in England which covered Ottawa at all!!! Helpful staff.

We came by this place for a lunch break after our cruise at the Thousand Islands which was spectacular. It was around 11.45am when we arrived.

The Capital Information Kiosk, which I would regard to as a Center, is a one-stop service center for tourists or visitors to obtain all the information about Ottawa and its key attractions. Not only there are lots of brochures, maps, information booklets for you to pick up, there are also computers for you to search more information and duty staff, to provide a Q&A advice for you when you have queries. The staff are professional, helpful and courteous.

Actually if you plan to visit the Parliament Hill or Peace Tower (which are just opposite the street and a stone's throw away), you could obtain your free tickets here for the guided tour. Do take note that the tickets are on "first come first serve" basis and so if you plan to visit these places, make sure you dropby early and the tickets (and usually they will be snatched up quickly) are only for the same day.

Also if you need to visit the restroom, you can drop by here as well as they are located at the basement (once you enter the building, turn to your left and you will see a flight of stairs and just walk down and you will see).

Just outside the center is a little square and there is also a Terry Fox statue here, the well known Canadian athlete, who with one leg having been amputated, has embarked on a cross-Canada run to raise money and awareness for cancer research. Visitors are seen taking photos and reading his story here.

Just behind the center and not far down the streets, one could see lots of retail shops, pubs and cafes and the well-known food street where you can grab up some BBQ and grilled ribs and chicken (which they are famed for) for a quick lunch. And trust me, regardless which stall you buy from, they are yummy and tasted great!

Generally, the information center is a good place to get information about Ottawa and you will not want to give it a miss especially if you are traveling alone and not with tour groups!

Highly recommended.
