It's been a year and we're back to NOTL. The BW is still perfect. Lovely room. People are helpful. Best breakfast at any chain I've been too. You won't go hungry. The location is perfect too. Definitely a place to stay when here.

We love hearing from our repeat guests, so thank you for taking the time to leave a review Mrscye. Since you were with us last year we have renovated our breakfast room, and repaved the parking lot with more updates & upgrades planned. I appreciate your kind words and hope that we'll have the opportunity to welcome you back again soon - safe travels until then!

We stayed at the Colonel Butler inn for 2 nights in the middle of July,

The hotel was faultless.
Prior to arrival we were surprised by a very friendly email from the staff , advising us of the facilities , lack of lift ( asking to advice if we wanted a ground floor room) and giving us advice on the local area and offering help with tour bookings.

On arrivial we were greeted by Penny, who was very friendly and welcoming. Check-in was quick and hassle free. As a bonus we were given welcome cookies!

We stayed in room 214 with two large queen beds, tv, tea and coffee facilities, mini fridge, toilettes and air con. The room and bathroom were spacious, very clean and well equipped.

We took advantage of breakfast on both days. We advise going to breakfast early as like any hotel during peak times can get a bit crowded. Breakfast was tasty with a range of food and drinks. Ranging from waffles, cereal, bagels and yogurt with tea, coffee and juices; there was a friendly member of staff in the kitchen who showed us how to use the waffle maker and recommended various Canadian inspired items.

We chose this partocular hotel due to its close proximity to Niagara Falls, but being in the quiet, quaint, Niagara on the lake. A 30 minute scenic drive down Niagara parkway and we were at the falls, those feeling adventurous could even cycle along the route! We visited a grocery store round the corner a couple of times for snacks and drinks and we had a walk along the lake front, unfortunately it was raining heavily the day we decided to go for a walk so it was cut short, but these things happen!

Overall the hotel was wonderful; the location, the staff, the room, the facilities. Highly recommended and if we ever visit the Niagara region again we wouldn't look anywhere else.

Hello cyclewithme1990, I really appreciate your detailed review. Thank you so much for the kind words about our team and property. Penny at the front desk & Lida in the breakfast room have both been with us for many years and genuinely enjoy ensuring that each guest has the best possible experience at the Colonel Butler Inn and in Niagara-on-the-Lake. You are correct that the area is cyclist-friendly as well; there is a paved pathway that will take you all the way to Fort Erie through Niagara Falls and there are other trails for the more adventurous and we're always happy to help plan a route for our guests which can include stops at wineries or breweries. Thank you again for the recommendation, we hope we'll see you again soon and wish you all the best until then.

If you just want to spend a night or two, this is a great place to explore the Niagara region. Not too far from the main attractions in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Rooms are comfortable, ours even had a fire place with a sofa which we enjoyed. Our room was not ready until late in the afternoon, but the staff was friendly so it didn't bother us. Great breakfast as well.
