As mentioned, this was our third visit to Rangers Retreat. We love the location, central and close to everything. The pool was great!! Additionally the patio furniture and padded swing in the back yard was a nice comfortable place to have coffee in the AM and wine in the PM.
Bed was so darn comfortable ---I miss it already!!
This will always be our 1st choice of places to stay when we visit NOTL
Cheers on a job well done to Brian & Jan.

Room tip: Choose the Colonel's Chamber or The twins room (can be made into a king) they share a wonderful balcony overlooking the back yard.

We found this place by chance whilst on holiday from the UK. We were visiting Niagra on the Lake a decided to stay over at the last minute and Brian was able to accommodate us despite the short notice. This was an absolute gem of a find and Brian, Jan & Sarah were extremely welcoming. The property was absolutely stunning and meticulously clean. Our room had a very large en suite and a balcony where we could sit and look out across the pool and well kept back garden. Brian and Jan had covered every guests needs from a selection of pillows to men and women's bathing suits if you had forgotten your own. The pool itself was an added bonus and we both enjoyed a relaxing swim in the evening alongside the use of the steam room afterwards. Brian couldn't have been more informative as far as his overview of the local area was concerned and he recommended some super places to eat. In the morning we were overwhelmed by the breakfast that was laid on for us. We knew that Brian was a trained chef but it really did surpass all expectations. The breakfast table was laden with fresh fruits, yogurts, a wide selection of cheeses and homemade chutneys, jams and bread. Brian also cooked us both up an amazing omelette and fruit crumble for dessert. I cannot recommend a stay at Rangers Retreat enough. We were overwhelmed by the thought that had gone into our stay and the kindness of our hosts. It made our stay in Niagra on the Lake very memorable and we will definitely stay again if we get the chance.

If you're looking for a B&B in the Niagara area, look no further! The accommodations are top notch, the pool was great and the property is straight out of Home and Garden.

The location is perfect, close to Old Town and the biking trails are down the street.

You will not find a better breakfast anywhere. The homemade Eggs Benny and the Frittata were second to none and that was after enjoying an array of breads, scones, muffins, cheeses, fruits and jams. This list doesn't cover it all, it's just a sample of what was offered every morning.

As for our hosts, Brian and Jan, they made us feel right at home and opened their arms to us. Brian's enthusiasm towards educating us on what was being served as well as the history of the area and Jan's sense of humour makes for a perfect combo. If there is a producer out there looking to do a show centred around a B&B, this is the place!

Can't wait to go back.

I have stayed here twice now and can't wait to go back. I was hesitant to book into a B&B but this was a great experience. The breakfast is fabulous, the rooms are private. The property is immaculate. If you have high standards, this is your place!

The Ranger's Retreat is undoubtedly the best B&B that I have ever stayed at! This medieval home is absolutely stunning and there is a lovely outdoor pool surrounded by perfectly manicured lawns and extravagant gardens. It has a very European feel, which isn't surprising seeing as Brain and Jan spent the majority of their lives in the Netherlands. The breakfast is second to none. On the first morning I had a mushroom omelet and the second morning I had eggs benedict. All breakfasts are served with homemade muffins, bread, and jams as well as a beautiful assortment of cheese. Brian and Jan are very interesting people. Brian worked as a chef and, if my memory serves me correctly, Jan is on the board of directors for culinary education in the Netherlands. He basically lead the standardization of culinary curriculums and testing standards in the Netherlands (no wonder the breakfasts are so delicious!). The Ranger's Retreat is not in walking distance to the quaint downtown core. So be careful not to drink too much wine, you'll need a car - but it's totally worth it!
