Lovely basilica. Gorgeous stained glass that had to be rebuilt once due to the historic explosion. Architecture is stunning

We went here to see the stained glass, which was very nice. But the history is special. All the windows were b!own out in the Great Halifax Explosion, which until the dropping of the atom bomb in WW2, was the biggest man- made explosion ever seen.

This cathedral is, as pleases me, not over the top. It is beautiful whilst also retaining some simplicity in its decoration. Well placed in the centre of the tourist area and the commercial streets, it is accessible to all. The stained glass windows are beautiful and are very clear.

St. Mary's is an incredible cathedral of the European tradition. The stained glass is exquisite. It offers a quiet respite from the noisy streets.

St. Mary's Basilica is the oldest Roman Catholic church in Halifax being built at 1820. The Gothic Revival architectural style with the stained glass windows are well maintained and restored. Long history behind and worth for visit.
