Very central location, great for walking all over the city. Close to shopping/restaurants along Spring Garden and down along the (much more touristy) waterfront as well. Beautiful views of the waterways, ship traffic and sunrise if you get a room at the back side.
Right now (October 2017) there's construction going on behind and around the hotel, so don't expect to sleep past 7:00 am Monday through Saturday.
That being said, the windows are very effective at keeping out the normal traffic and late night shouty-groups-stumbling-home-from-the-local-bar noises.
Staff was extremely friendly (it IS Canada), the 'store' was one of the best stocked I've ever seen in a Residence Inn, and the breakfast spread is pretty good. Bedding is very comfy, and the housekeeping staff very efficient and honors the 'no thank you' sign for making up the room.
We didn't have a car so didn't take advantage of the parking garage (separate charge). You really don't need a car to get around anywhere within Halifax as long as you can walk the steep hills, and there's plenty of public transit to get you around if you don't like walking.More
