In Halifax it should be a must visit to the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. In walking distance from the Harbour side you will find this old stone house in a perfect condition. The art gallery is showing several interesting sections. From contemporary art to native art , paintings and sculptures all is ther! The reception is friendly. Interesting the art work direkt behind them. Several little paintings guide you to one big one. All rooms are very interesting to visit. A place you have to see.

The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia shows a wide variety of its rich culture as shown through art. Specifically the folk art pieces are full of the basic raw energy of the wild elements the early settlers of this province had to tackle, displayed in vivid colours.in addition, seeing many of Maud Lewis paintings is wonderful...topped off by seeing her real house there as well.

I'd highly recommend a visit

Art Gallery of Nova Scotia downtown is a small museum on local arts, particularly impressive on Maud Lewis exhibits. Enjoy the cafe attached to this museum.

Small location for a major art gallery but a wonderful display. I went there for the Maud Lewis display and it was a great display that I would recommend for all fans.

This museum focuses on art of the Nova Scotia region, with a special section devoted to Maud Lewis, whose simplistic folk art is a delight to see. Also of interest is a huge work by Monkman, Johnson & Bennett entitled "Miss Chief's Wet Dream". Best to view this with the aid of a guide, as there are many hidden things to discover within this painting.

The museum is open daily. Recommended.
