This 19th century converted inn has a great location within easy walking distance of the Halifax harbour and its historic downtown points of interest, including The Citadel, Clock Tower, Pier 21, and many more. The inn had wonderful and very helpful reception clerks and provided a very good continental breakfast. The room itself was comfortable but it was difficult to move luggage up the narrow staircase. The bathroom in first room we stayed in was in a very poor location right beside the head of the bed. The second room was much better in terms of its organization. Parking was conveniently located but did not offer enough spaces for all tenants. As such, off-site parking was also available but highly inconvenient.

Room tip: Upper or lower floor rooms have difficult to negotiate stairwells if luggage is to be moved.

Thank you for your review.

I agree that our Heritage buildings have some quirky and tight spaces.

Sorry to hear that you found parking difficult. It can be less than ideal when our limited free parking is full.

Thank you for staying with us.

Sincerely,

My wife and stayed at the Halliburton for a three night visit to Halifax. This was our first time in Halifax and we found the location of the hotel to be just perfect. Everything you want to see is within easy walking distance. The staff were amazing and easily accommodated changing rooms for us when we found the first one a little too cool for our liking. The two rooms we had were very well fitted out and unique. We would highly recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to come again if we get the chance. And as an extra item, the restaurant Stories was excellent too!

Nice comfortable clean room with plenty of space. Bed was comfortable but pillows too fat and firm for us. Carpet was worn. Sound insulation not the greatest. Everyone working there is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant staff went above and beyond.

Room tip: Some rooms in back have balconies and are away from street noise.

The Halliburton is locally situated for walking anywhere in downtown Halifax. The hotel is in three separate side by side buildings from the turn of the century. There are no elevators so be prepared for lots of stairs. Parking is limited and the back entrances need some TLC but I was never out there. Our room was on the top floor and was terrific. The bed was comfortable along with a small sitting area. The bathroom was spotless and the tile work was professionally done and extremely attractive. The reception staff were very helpful and the breakfasts were very good and lots to choose from.

This is a very fine B&B. We would definitely recommend it. The only reason we couldn’t give it a 5, was the stairs.

It’s actually a set of houses next door to each other. Because there are lots of stairs so the amount/size of luggage you have needs to be a consideration. The staff did assist us, but I was thankful that we travel with carry-on size roller boards.

The staff was very attentive and helpful.

The top-rated Halifax restaurant, Stories, is in the hotel. It is excellent (see separate review.)

Breakfast was completely satisfactory, though not noteworthy.

Thank you for posting your review.

I am happy to hear you enjoyed your stay in Halifax.

While our many beautiful staircases keep us fit, we understand that some guests may find them difficult. As always, we are happy to help carry suitcases.
