I stayed here with my wife for 4 nights. We were in YK to see the aurora.
First up, so this cabin is one of two on a block with a house, in the middle of a forest off Prelude Lake. What surprised and impressed me is the house, along with the others on the street are all effectively "off the grid". Solar powered with generator backup, water from the lake, gas tank, water tank etc. But the cabin had full running hot and cold water, shower, flushing toilet, LED lighting and 110VAC power in all rooms, sink, fridge etc.
The owners, Dave and Pauline made us feel very welcome, from letting us borrow spices, to sharing the "fire pit"/cooking dinner together on the Saturday night and "happy hour". We got to meet some of their friends who also live in the same street. Ultimately, we felt very welcome and it was like we were staying with friends!
The location is awesome. Prelude lake is huge, and the surrounding forest/outback is gorgeous.
Much nicer stay here than in Yellowknife town itself if living among nature is your thing.(which we did for four nights - the B & B we stayed in was good, but the town itself has nothing on the surrounding areas),
Anyway, I would highly recommend Country Cabin - Pine Lodge to others. We were not disappointed.
