The Fat fox is a great spot to go hang out and have a good cup of coffee. Read a book, catch up on what's going on in the world (free wifi) meet with friends. They have various lunch specials, great curried chicken and their Breakfast sandwich is very good. Love their scones, just like traditional old country scones. Rustic charm, one of my favourite hang outs right now.

This was a wonderful, cosy little spot on a really cold day! The coffee was excellent and there was a nice choice of sweet things (and a cute little sign showing the difference between a macaron and a macaroon :)). Relaxed atmosphere and fun decor, some books, magazines and games lying around, making it very inviting. Really glad I stopped by and will be back next time I'm visiting.

Fat Fox Cafe was the first place we stopped by after landing in Yellowknife. At 3pm in the afternoon, the cafe was quite packed but we managed to find a seat. We ordered the potato with chili, and breakfast granola. Both of these were really tasty! What was also very enjoyable were the drinks - the blueberry green tea was very refreshing, and I also liked their tea latte - all great recommendations from the staff! I really wanted to try their scones, but unfortunately they had just sold out. We saw they have a fresh batch out when we were leaving, so do ask the staff to see if you can catch the next fresh batch!

Just a small note that The Fat Fox is located on the 50th street - there can be quite a few homeless in that area. It can be a bit uncomfortable, especially as a tourist. Avoid walking there at night, and ignore if they try to provoke.

Don't let the outside fool you. Although the outside looks run down, the food inside is actually OK. The "potato and chilli" was OK (just like most of the restaurants are in YK, just ok). For a price tag of $15 the portions are small. My food came out warm on the inside and just barely above room temp on the edges. The "ginger" (yes, just ginger) Latte was wonderful...although it tasted more like a ginger moca than a latte. Too much chocolate for my liking. The entire meal was $21 - chilli and a latte.
