I've been to the lounge several times to listen to live jazz, and love the atmosphere there. Food is pricey, but a person can linger, and really enjoy the music. The lounge chairs are very comfortable.

Recent experience at the restaurant: A group of 9 arrived for our reservation at 11:30 on a Friday for lunch, thinking we would beat the lunch rush. The restaurant was not overly busy - less than 1/2 of the tables were full. For the most part, we knew what we wanted to eat. There were long gaps between getting the menus and having our order taken, finishing the meal and getting the dessert menu and desserts, and getting the bill. It took over 3.25 hours to get through soup, main course, and desert (not because we lingered of our own accord). We hadn't budgeted that much time on a weekday. Another group in the same area as us was in and out much more quickly - perhaps we should have said we were in a hurry.

Overall, we were satisfied with the food, though a salmon filet had to be sent back a couple of times because it was underdone, and the french onion soup seemed overly salty. They were good at acknowledging and adapting to dietary restrictions/allergies.

The dessert menu was sadly lacking in detail. "Blood Orange Cheesecake, Dark Chocolate" was not a dark chocolate cheesecake with a blood orange flavour, but rather a blood orange flavoured cheesecake with a dark chocolate crumb crust and a bit of dark chocolate drizzle on the plate. It was OK, but not what one would anticipate from the description. Fresh ice cream was a hit - lots of nuts in the macadamia nut ice cream. Dessert plating/presentation was lovely.

Excellent service from the host through several serving staff. Service was attnetive but not officious. Meal was tastefully prepared and was an apporpriate portion size for the lunch period.

Enjoyed both a lunch and breakfast at this restaurant during a stay at Inn at the Forks. If you are an Eggs Benedict fan, this is one of the best in Winnipeg. Three styles of Eggs Bendict are offered and I have tried them all in the past few years, all being equally delicious. The homemade breakfast potatoes are to die for. Service was very slow on the Sunday we had breakfast (understaffed as the retaurant was not near its seating capacity). On past visits the servce has been much better, so I think this was just a glitch in scheduling serving staff. I will definitely be going back to enjoy breakfast/lunch again.
