I’ve been working in the area for three months now. I have tried almost every restaurant Brandon has to offer. Joe Beevers is simply the best food. Never frozen. Fresh veggies. Awesome salads. And Poutine that is amazing. Highly recommend this place.

Thank Chris A

Do yourself a favour and preview the menu at home as there are so many choices, many of them quite unique to this restaurant (eg. perogies on a hot dog). Also, that will give you time to appreciate the humour in the names of the food items and in the descriptions (eg. Hoof Hearted Chili). We tried to get into this restaurant right at noon for lunch but the place was packed so we did a little shopping and went back about an hour later. When we entered, the sign stated to seat yourself so we found a booth which was cleaned up immediately by a perfectly delightful young lady. This is definitely a sports bar -- several framed hockey jerseys and photos, were on the wall. One could well imagine the entirely different excitement and noise levels here during an evening game viewed on one of he many large screen TV`s as the sports fanatics descended on the premises!! However, the clientele at noon was much more businesslike and subdued as all likely had to head back to work or other destinations such as ourselves. The mood was brightened by a nice selection of classic Rock music coming out of the speakers at a ``sensible`` volume.
We were a bit surprised to see the size of the restaurant. The dark décor seemed to make the dining area seem a bit smaller than it was but there was lots of seating available (each of the booths could easily seat 6 people). There was a separate bar area with stools and a couple of tables nearby. Having decided on what we wanted the night before (but I changed my mind at the last second after consulting with our server), we placed our order; Prairie Dog with garden salad -- several choices as to the dressing desired) and the Big Pig with French fries. The plan was to order different items so that we could share them and compare our thoughts. We ordered water and coffee to drink. Our server told us there would be a slight delay for the coffee as she wanted to brew us a fresh pot! Definitely a good sign! When the coffee did arrive a few minutes later, we both remarked on how robust the flavour was without being tart or overly acidic. Yet another positive!! About 15 minutes later (terrific!) our meals arrived. Like the burgers, the meals were HUGE -- so big that the only practical way to serve them was on special aluminum trays! Thoughtfully, a few large napkins came with the order which turned out to be a very good idea! Barb`s Prairie Dog essentially started off as a foot-long hotdog in a foot-long sesame seed bun but was topped with cheese sauce, bacon, sautéed onions, and thin slices of potato perogy on the very top. My Big Pig, also served in a foot-long sesame seed bun, contained one-half pound of pulled pork, sweet mustard, BBQ sauce, home-made coleslaw, and topped off with sautéed onion rings (small size so they could fit on the top without hanging over the side. Barb`s garden salad was served in a separate bowl and was made with mixed greens and not just lettuce; red onion slices, tomatoes, and carrots completed the ingredients. Her salad dressing was placed in a small separate bowl. Barb really enjoyed the freshness and variety of ingredients. As for the Prairie Dog, the wiener, cut lengthwise, had some pleasant seasoning and was cooked just right. The tastes all blended very nicely together and the perogy strips on top seemed like a form of dessert and as strange as including it seemed, it turned out to be a thoughtful touch. The Big Pig was literally overflowing with ``goodìes`` appropriately-sized onion rings on top, then the coleslaw, and then the sumptuous mound of superbly prepared pulled pork flavoured with sweet mustard and BBQ sauce. I was informed that the BBQ sauce was not too spicy and she was correct but there IS some `heat`` following the initial sweetness. A very generous helping of French fries were also on the tray and they, too, seemed to be a bit unique as there appeared to be a delicate coating along with a sparse covering of salt. They were just the way they should be -- a bit crisp on the outside and hot and tender on the inside. Between the two of us, there was no way we could complete what we were given. The same held true with the main dishes we ordered. It wasn`t long before we realized there was no way we could complete the entire meal, so we each left about half of the bun. In fact, the meal was so filling that we had to delay supper and even then needed very little. In all reality, the only flaw we could find was that underneath the bun was a paper (wrapper?) which was a bit of a problem as, once it became damp, could easily tear and become attached to the food and thus be eaten accidentally. Our attentive, personable server was there checking in on us and promptly refilled our coffee cups without us having to summon her to do so (the coffee here is "bottomless"). Be advised that this is not a "cheap eats" establishment but is full value for what they charge!! Besides, creativity SHOULD be properly rewarded.
We can see that residents of Brandon (we are not) could eat here frequently and enjoy a most delicious, filling meal without duplication for many months as the menu is so varied and unique. We can also see how this restaurant earned a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence in both 2016 and 2017 (proudly displayed as you enter) and is ranked the fourth best restaurant in Brandon. Hopefully, with more well-deserved highly favourable reviews such as this one, they will earn a third consecutive Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence and rise in their ranking. Thank you to all who made this stop such a pleasure!!
