We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in to the warm and friendly atmosphere. A large family gathering with16 of us was hosted so eloquently by the owners. Our host knew the owners well (they sell them their farm fresh eggs and their produce) and they treated us as if we were dining in their home. The four courses were absolutely amazing. We left a well fed happy family - no-one was disappointed....and neither will you.

Our first time at this restaurant which came highly recommended from friends who are regular patrons. This was a busy restaurant for a Thursday night but we had a great table beside the window. The food was delicious -- we had different salads and both couldn't have been better. The fresh seafood of the day was cod served with a light sauce, capers, crispy new potatoes and vegetables and savoured every bite. My guest had the gnocchi with sausage and declared it the "best I've had". The wine was crisp and cold with a great selection. Couldn't have asked for better service and all in all a wonderful birthday celebration!

Over the years there have been several restaurants in this exact location, some more successful than others. Finally, when they took over a few years ago, Zoe and Kyle came up with a winning combination - friendly atmosphere, reasonable prices, and above all, great food! We have never been disappointed, and always look forward to our next visit. Oak Bay residents are very fortunate have such a treasure within walking, biking or easy driving distance.

I visited this restaurant with two local friends on a Sunday evening. We were looking for somewhere new that didn't involve a lot of driving, and hoping for a new favorite. Parking was easy, across the street. The restaurant had tables in a central area behind reception, plus rooms off to each side. They were fully booked so we were not able to get a table in one of the rooms, which would better ambience. The menu is quite limited but they had 3 features to choose from as well. A bread basket is served with oil and balsamic. We had the chicken liver pate and roasted grape salad as starters. The grape salad was OK - I asked for no bacon and was told that wasn't possible. The chicken liver pate was fine as well, especially the chutney. I would have preferred it served on baguette rather than a hard cracker-like bread. I ordered the gnocchi with marinated mushrooms, which was pretty good but I'm not a fan of undercooked Swiss Chard stems. It was quite filling. One friend had the rigatoni with beef and pork ragout, which she really liked. The red wine by the glass was fine as well. My other companion had the gnocchi with duck and cranberries, which she found too sweet and didn't eat much of it. I am not from the area but did ask my friends whether it was their new neighbourhood favorite. Both said they would not return, having not found the service friendly not the food special.
