After living in Victoria for several years, we came across the Abkhazi Gardens after driving by their sign post. We had no idea it existed!

It's a lovely garden near the city centre where you can have afternoon tea and enjoy the beautiful setting. In fact, I liked it so much that we had our wedding ceremony and reception there recently. We had over 70 guests and they couldn't stop raving at how beautiful the gardens were and the food/service was top notch.

It's worth a stop and the entry fee is by donation.

My daughter took my sister and me for tea. We knew nothing about the location -- but once we were there there was so much to learn! We were fortunate that the weather was perfect so we were able to eat at an outside table overlooking the lovely garden. The service was warm and professional and the food was lovely. I highly recommend this tea house as the combination of setting and food is unbeatable.

We chose Abkhazi Garden for tea and a stroll in the garden and were not disappointed. The story behind the making of the garden and the building of the garden house is charming. Three in our group enjoyed wandering through the intimate gardens that artfully interwove the gardens and ponds among the natural granite landscape. Gardeners were also on hand to share information about the various plants.

We did not make a reservation but went early in the day and were able to be seated immediately. Three of us chose "Elevenses" and one chose high tea in the garden house; both options were delicious. The environment was so unhurried and the server was very sweet. We chose to eat inside and had wonderful views of the gardens; the outside option also looked delightful.

It is worthy noting that to get to the tea house, it is necessary to walk a distance since there did not appear to be any on-site parking. We were fortunate to find an on-street parking space relatively close to the entrance. A handicap parking space near the building entrance would have been helpful to one member of our group.

The grounds and flowers are just okay. I like Government House grounds way better and you can't beat the Bucharts for flowers. It is not cheap to go in and the restaurant is small and the food not great.

lovely place to visit. Calm and serene. If you love gardening - you must visit.
Small but extremely well kept.
easy access by Public Transit.
Wanted to order the high tea ($37.50) per person.
When asked if we cold share - but order a second tea - the cost would be $12.50
no thank you.
