I’ll preface my review with our original stay in June of this year. My review is for today and back then.

We stayed here back in June in our 2018 (high end) travel trailer. We arrived at check in and had to wait for some baby boomers to leave our site that we had paid for, for over three hours. Part of the wait was them washing their rig. AGAINST SALISH SEASIDE RULES, at that. We were finally able to get an employee to ask them to leave. Afterward, the couple moved to another sight and harassed us because they were asked to leave the site THAT WE’D paid for.

For this stay, we were able to book the Eagle waterfront site. We excused the above situation without a bad review, though one was definitely warranted. Especially since we were the ones wasting our precious time waiting for their policies to not be enforced. Though this was not something that would prevent us from coming back, it did leave a bad taste in our mouths. We ended our trip with another nights stay (paid for and reserved several months prior, so cancellation in mid summer was out of the question), again - in an Eagle site, with views of Victoria Harbour.

Fast forward to today. October 1, 2018. Our campground in northern Van Island opened up there sites for the 2019 season and we made our reservations. With that, we decided that we should give Salish Seaside another try and stay on the front end of our trip, as it would be one short lived night. My husband called and made reservations, and afterward let me know that due to a change in Salish policies, we are no longer allowed to stay in the Eagle sites because we aren’t in a Motorhome. After discussing with me, we decided that this coupled with our first stay issues was too much. So we immediately called back to cancel our reservations, that we had made less than an hour earlier. MIND YOU, these are for June of 2019. Not something that would put them out. Upon calling, we were told that we will receive a $20 cancelation fee, even though we had just called and it was due to their service and policies that had provoked our change of heart.

Because of this ridiculous policy, coupled with the others, we will never stay here again. We know a lot of travelers that ask on the regular where they should stay when visiting BC. We will definitely never recommend them and I’ll share this review with anyone that asks about this “resort.”

Salish Rv Haven is a beautiful campsite. We booked well in advance and got spot 12, which is arguably the best place to get. Amazing views over the water and Victoria, plenty of sealife at your doorstep and a spacious environment.
Bathrooms are well equipped and large.
The water taxi departs right on front of the campground.
Highly recommended!

The park has been gutted to the studs and totally renovated! So well done. There is a new office with small gift shop, the new wide driveway for ease of getting in and the spots are new concrete and well groomed. We walked to town along the water and cabbed back from the Market Square for about $11.00. Spotless washrooms and showers. The downside: The gorgeous amenity building filled with light, welcoming furniture, wonderful First People's art, a deck to sit and watch the harbour doesn't open until 9:00 and closes at 6:00! I see they don't want campers to party there for hours, but really, you have such a jewel and campers can't even take a plate of dinner up there to enjoy, or a glass of wine in the evening. How about keeping it open until at least 8:00?

This park, as has been mentioned by many reviewers, has undergone a complete rebuild. Everything is new! All the sites have a concrete base and are surrounded by grass. Needless to say the location of the park is quite spectacular, but of course being so close to the harbour means that you may have to tolerate whatever weather it delivers. You can travel to Victoria downtown either by water taxi, just call and they will collect you or by taking the coastal boardwalk. This pleasant walk takes about an hour.
A few small issues do exist however and are related to the fact that there are only two toilets and two shower/toilets available for those not using their own in their RV. Also we found it strange that the wonderfully positioned first storey club room closes at 6 pm. We thought that this would be a delightful place to sit in the evening to view the harbour and the city.
Nevertheless this RV park comes highly recommended.
