This was a horrible hotel experience. Having stayed at many other hotels in Vancouver, Auberge is among the worst we've encountered.
Cons:
- rude front staff lady who checked us in
- super loud room. our room was right in front of the elevator and every time someone arrived on the floor, we heard a loud ding and could hear very clearly all the voices in the hallway
- woken up several times in the night by the fridge that makes a super loud sound every 2 to 3 hours. note that we had nothing in the fridge so it just made it on its own.
- not worth the money
Pros:
- thankfully the man who was working the night shift was a lot nicer than the lady who checked us in.

If you contact the front desk to request a room switch, they would be more than happy to oblige to relocate you to another suite. In regards to the front desk staff, they have been trained to offer courteous and polite service to each and every guest; again we apologize that your expectations were not met. We stayed at this hotel for a few days and we really enjoyed it , everything is clean and great staff and especially Valeria was very nice to us! Thanks to her we saw many interesting places in Vancouver! We recommend this hotel

We were very comfortable during our 6 night stay in this lovely hotel. What a sweet surprise. One side of our loft was full glass floor to ceiling. You can see the water full view and the city on the other side of the room. Furnishing is high quality & new. The masterbed is very comfortable. The Pull out leather couch that turns into a bed is not bad for a second bed that the kids used. The dining table and the mini bar ( fridge, microwave, sink ) we used a lot. We loved our stay here. The Soap Shampoo and bpdy wash was A+ qualit. Our stay here was comparable to our stay in a Marriott in Hawaii, it's that lovely! It is walking distance to Canada Place, Gas Town, a ton of eateries.
-Lots of room for the kids to run around. There is a lovely writing desk at the very corner of the room that is glass fr floor to ceiling. Nice place to sit and have coffee. My 7 yr old used this corner as a drawing corner.
-The hotel is quiet, elevator is fast. We felt like we lived there.
-The hotel had business on the first few floors, but you can't see this from the main lobby. This did not bother us. What counts most is the room we actually got, and it was perfect.
A few things that's on the down side:
-Parking is a hefty $50 a night. Parkade was safe and clean, easy to park. There's always a spot. BUT hard on your first day to figure out which side of the building it is located. But on your second day I am sure after you have figured out your way around it's not a problem.
-No room service. We went to a Whole Foods for breakfast stuff we kept in the room for the kids snacks as well. We ate lunch and dinner out, a lot of restaurants nearby.
- Some of the staff (although they were very nice) had trouble with explaining things in english, she had to draw us a map to the parkade and even with the map, it was a little challenging.
-We ended up paying street parking at the front door just o unload. We felt so rushed to unload as they do not have a designated sort of an entrance parking to check in like most hotels.

We also apologize for the lack of room service; however, there are plenty of nearby options such as restaurants, cafes and as you mentioned, grocery stores such as Whole Foods all in close proximity. My husband and I just finished a wonderful stay at the Auberge Hotel. First off, the location couldn’t be better: a block or two from the water, restaurants, shops, you name it. Everything is at your doorstep.
The hotel manager was SO friendly and welcoming. Due to COVID-19 they’ve removed “high touch items” like magazines and pens from the rooms, but he asked if we’d like any of these items (we declined). The room itself was large, luxurious and spotless. The usual little details were all there (robes, a coffeemaker with coffees and teas, a hair dryer), plus some nice touches that we appreciated (i.e. an umbrella we could borrow). The rooms are recently renovated, and it shows: modern shower fixtures, swanky lights in the bathroom, and pops of colour in a muted palette with well-thought-out textures and fabrics throughout. Very classy.
There were Mink chocolates by the bed, and we later realized they were from the café in the same building to the west of the hotel entrance. I was tempted to stop there for breakfast the next day because I liked the chocolate so much, but we ran out of time. Next time.
I was also pleased to see that Auberge has done away with the little individual bottles of shampoo and body wash, opting for dispensers in the shower instead - a nice environmentally friendly touch. Even better, they were filled with Skoah bath products which smelled divine. The shower felt luxurious, the sheets felt high end yet not overly hard and crisp, and the room was quite quiet at night, with a beautiful view of the harbour.
I was sad to have to check out at the end of our stay! I look forward to staying there again. A great hotel in a fantastic location.

The hotel in Vancouver is definitely NOT recommended. In the building, floors 2-7 are business and the floors above is a hotel. The poor service started with getting into the hotel. With no porter at the door, you had to push you way through 2 set of large glass doors. With 2 suitcases, this was no fun, especially as I was walking with a cane and and my wife has COPD. Others who came trough the doors had the same problem. Other guests running to help people as the had trouble with the doors. There was a small door on the side that had an auto opening but it was useless.
When I checked in, they advised me they discontinued the continental breakfast and they mentioned it wasn't very good anyway.They checked the breakfast list and we weren't on the list. I asked them if we can eat in the hotel and they mentioned the restaurant was only for "club" members. We had to leave the hotel to eat breakfast. My wife with COPD wasn't impressed as she had trouble walking half a block. This was one reason I picked the hotel because we didn't have to leave to have breakfast All the tours we were on, we were picked up at the hotel door.
The second night there was a fire alarm at 1:30AM. We had to walk down from the 10th floor. The next day the rumor was that it was a false alarm from the restaurant. The issue I have is that there was not even a comment from the hotel about the false alarm. Like nothing happened.Other hotels we would at least get a letter of apology and explanation from the hotel management
When we left the hotel, they mentioned they would help us get to the ship, especially with my back problem and my wife's COPD. Their only help was to call a cab. People on the street had to help us with the luggage.
The hotel is rated very high but if you look at the questions, they only ask about the rooms, noting more. If they did, they would be rated a 1 or 2. I will post this on other travel sites as this hotel is very over rated and not recommended. They were busy because of their location, nothing more.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your stay with us last summer. We sincerely apologize that your visit at The Auberge was not up to your expectations. For guests with health concerns requiring assistance, we invite you to contact us directly prior to your visit so that we may ensure that you receive the attention that you may require i.e. getting assistance into and out of the building. To clarify the issue with the now defunct continental breakfast: we ceased serving it long before last summer, and had you booked back in January 2019 or prior to that with a booking that included the breakfast, you would have most certainly received a breakfast delivered to your door. If you booked after this date, there was no breakfast advertised on our website.
In regards to the fire alarm in the early morning, it did result from the restaurant, and according to the hotel records, the Front Desk staff were escorting all the guests congregating in the lobby to the designated safe area, and then when the “all clear” was given, they were escorted back. The building’s security is issued at least 24 hours later and released to the hotel. Your safety would be the immediate priority to us, whereas the explanation (which we could not determine at the time since it was unavailable to us) is of secondary importance.
And finally, your request for a porter needs to be ascertained when you arrive at the hotel and not when you leave. It is strongly recommended to book a porter in advance (i.e. upon check in) and not at the last minute, which means that it will be based on availability.
