The atmosphere was lovely for a couples getaway. Everything about the hotel was great. We especially enjoyed the hot tub and the games that were setup by the fireplace in the restaurant/lounge. Will go back again! More

Taking safety measures
We only spent one night here on the spur of the moment while passing through Vancouver and it was great. The covid protocols in place were excellent and the staff extremely helpful. The location is ideal for walking anywhere downtown with an abundance of restaurants and shopping nearby. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

My fiancé and I had stayed in many hotels but this is by far the best. First off, the location is perfect. Walking distance to the mall, Yale town, Gastown, easy access to transit. Had all the comfort of home while begin away a luxury kitchen with gas stove and a fireplace. Bed was extremely comfortable and to top it off AAA+ service! The concierge, cleaning staff and maintenance staff was on top of it. They will take the extra step to make sure you are comfortable. Salt water pool, bicycle rentals and umbrellas are definitely a plus. Would totally stay here again.

This has become by staycation hotel for 2020. Great service by Elena, Diana and Marianne. Always willing to help out with any request. Upon check-in, you get a PPE pack, which is great during COVID. Room is modern and quiet. L'Occitaine products and huge tub with separate shower. Nespreesso machine and kettle for tea. Pool/hot tub area is nice and not busy.

After reading some of the other reviews for l'Hermitage we had high expectations for our stay. Perhaps reading these reviews was where we went wrong as, had we not read these reviews and had we only expected average, clean accommodations we would have been completely satisfied.
I believe that this is an older building. With some older buildings room layouts that may not have been updated feel tight and dysfunctional. Our room's ventilation system was very loud. The refrigerator was loud enough that I had to unplug it to sleep. Electronic devices like an alarm clock were so bright that I had to rest it on its screen to block out the light. The choices of furniture and light fixtures were uninspiring and the two bedside table lamps had extra light switches that could have used more attention by the cleaning staff to remove what appear to have been a build up of finger prints. Additionally, the pillows were so large that they hurt my neck to sleep on my back so I opted to folding a towel to use as a headrest instead.
I was looking forward to using the patio area but we found that air from the laundry room seem to exhaust into the area into which our patio opened so we chose to stay inside.
If I had no other options I would probably still stay at this hotel at the rate at which we stayed at but I feel that there are lots of alternatives around Vancouver that are worth exploring that would result in a similarly priced but more comfortable stay or, for more money, may result in a truly boutique stay instead of a room in an older building dressed up to appear like a boutique hotel.
With all of this said, bear in mind that we traveled through the area during what may prove to be the peak of the pandemic and it seemed that staff and hotel management were obsessing over COVID-19 staff health checks and having COVID awareness stickers placed on pretty much everything including on unopened rolls of toilet paper. I do believe that whenever I was asked how our room was that the staff member was genuinely interested. I hope that the staff may see this review and consider my criticisms and how to improve the room.
Stayed as a couple for just one night. Lot's of restaurants in walking distance. Hotel staff did a great job managing through all the COVID restrictions. Large, unusually spacious rooms for a downtown Vancouver hotel too. Highly recommend.
