We saw geese, ducks, seagulls, a magpie, and deer. It was so nice (and free!) that we went back a second time a week later.

You really could spend all day here in the summer. There's always something new in the big lagoon, and park now has trails right to the riverside, on the extreme north side, so that's always fun. There are a lot of deer in the park, so chances are you'll see one of the herd at least. If you very luck, you'll see one of their lovely fawns as well!

As part of our visit to Calgary, my sister and I toured the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary (IBS). There is no charge for this attraction. We were looking for a six-part geocache within this lovely park. After looking at the exhibits, we headed outside and started our tour. Enjoyed the many bridges that carried us across the rushing water that meandered through the sanctuary. We saw two deer feeding at the side of the trail. They weren't frightened at all and continued to eat as we and others walked by them. There are plenty of benches sprinkled throughout the park for visitors to rest. In some parts, the trees provide shade but wear a hat on a sunny day. There is a stately old house in the sanctuary. As we progressed through the IBS, we found the answers to our geocaching clues and at the end, we were able to locate the cache and sign the log book. I must say that this geocache really highlighted the features of the IBS and the final stage is a real surprise.

We were impressed with this gem. Although we could hear the highway traffic, planes overhead, and the occasional train, we were transported to another world here. Easy-to-walk paths, many birds singing, and amazing wildlife sightings. We saw a deer eating in the woods and a baby beaver playing in the water. There are bridges over the water and the water is amazingly clear. Some woods, some grasslands, marsh, and riverside are all parts of this park. We really enjoyed it!
