We booked a room through hotels.com. We were treated with courtesy and the best service I have seen in a very long time. The porters, valet, front desk clerk were all exceptional. We received a complimentary upgrade. I enjoyed the homemade chocolates :). The bed was very comfortable. Only problem was a few of the lights were not working. Washroom counter space is non existing. I am sure we will stay again.

My husband and I decided to go on a last minute in a weekend away, spending one night at the Palliser.
The hotel lobby was beautiful and the staff were very friendly.
We had booked into a suite. The suite was very nice except for the view. It was the view of the railway cars. A little disappointed as I could look out and see the beautiful city lights.
We then headed down to the lobby bar. Service and food were good. Later that evening we went to the pool and steam room. It was very nice and relaxing.
It wasn't till later that night when we tried to sleep that our experience went from good to horrible. I was woken by a very loud crashing sound. It had sounded to two train cars had collided. Both my husband and I immediately looked out the window to see what was happening. Well, it was train cars crashing together but intentionally. The train was hooking up new cars. This continued for the rest on the night.
We checked out quite early the next morning, instead of spending the day downtown, as we needed to go home to sleep.
We did mention this to the staff who apologized for the noise but said there was nothing they could do. I had also written a comment on the comment card prior to check out.
Later that day I received an email from the hotel apologizing again for the noise. The offered us a complimentary upgrade on our next stay.
We will go back as the rest of the experience was good. Here's to hoping our next stay is better.

Hello there,

We appreciate your review, feedback to our hotel means a lot to us - and it is nice to read that you and your husband thought of Calgary's Castle to be the destination of a weekend escape. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the pool, spa and Oak Room and also that you found our colleagues warm and friendly.

We are though, very much a historic property in that 100 years ago, we were built to help connect Canada by rail, right next to the railroad. We regret to hear that the night of your visit with us, you found the sounds of the trains distracting. We are never privy to the schedule of the trains where their activity is completely random. We are sad to hear when it affects our guests' sleep.

We are happy to hear that our team reached out to you following the stay, and look forward to surprise you with a quiet and beautiful city view upon your next visit with us.

Best,

The rooms have been renovated and look great. Service was great as usual. Love staying here . They always make you feel special. The lounge needs some upgrading though. Service from all staff was excellent. Close to really good restaurants. Rim rock only open for breakfast as being renovated.

Dear June,

Thank you so much for your lovely review, you make us feel special!
We are soon to be a completely restored property with all newly renovated guestrooms and as well, anticipate a renovation of our Oak Room Lounge and Rimrock Restaurant in the next few months (slightly delayed).

We hope to see you again soon.

This is the best hotel in Calgary! I stay here 5 or 6 times per year and the bellmen know me by name. Service is excellent and I have best sleep in the beds. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Calgary.

My 2 night stay at the Fairmont Palliser Hotel in Calgary AB was excellent. The room was very nicely decorated and very clean with all the amenities. Enjoyed the room service infact it was the best club sandwich I have ever had!
The old world architecture of the Hotel is amazing, classical high ceilings and moldings.
One suggestion, there is a railway yard on one side of the Hotel, keep that in mind when making your reservation.

Dear Robert,

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. We are happy to hear you found your guestroom, "Nicely decorated and very clean with the amenities." We are especially pleased to hear you found our in-room dining club sandwich, "The best you've ever had."

Indeed too, we are a hotel built in 1914 to help connect Canada by rail, where the schedule of the trains themselves is never consistent where we hope they don't affect our guests' sleep.

Best,
