“Great waterslides but hotel is too noisey”
Reviewed 24 February 2012

The rooms are nice, clean, modern, good internet speed (I got 75Mb/s download on speedtest). The waterslides are fun for kids. It would have been a very nice stay, but the hotel is too noisey. I complained 3 times because the people next to us were very loud (laughing, banging doors, running up and down the hall, talking loudly in the hallway, etc.) we were offered an upgrade (jacuzzi suite) room on a different floor, went there, and that room had some kind of machinery behind a wall so there was a constant humming noise in the room and it wasn't quiet either. Got offered a 3rd room and it seemed to be better soundproofed. I could hear the neighbours while in the hallway, but not when in the room. The hotel is also right next to the airport, so you hear jets leaving early in the morning.

A couple other things to note:
-the vehicle parked right next to the parkade entrance had its window smashed the first night I was there and in the morning you could see the smashed glass laying all over. Glad I was parked indoors.
-the parkade is tight and the warnings about smaller vehicles should be heeded. I saw many scrapes on the concrete there, I wouldn't try to take a long vehicle in there.
-the waterpark is nice, kids like it alot, but...the hot tub is tiny (about 8 people max), and the main pool is quite cold, kids don't mind, but parent who want to relax may be out of luck.
-the breakfast buffet is mediocre at best and overpriced (coffee is extra)

It would have been a great stay if it was quieter.

Room Tip: Get a room in the 50s-60s which is around the corner from the main wing of the hotel, its quieter.

First class treatment from a first class hotel

I stay at this hotel every time I am in Calgary. The staff is friendly and the hotel is very clean. This place has a great pool area, and I would recommend it for families with kids aged 14 and under.
The rooms are very nice, especially if you get a suit room. The higher up floors have a nice view of the city and you can watch the plans land at night. The Bar in the hotel has some great staff and it is a good place to catch a hockey game. The check in and check out is always very fast with knowledgeable staff.

We found this to be a GREAT family hotel. The rooms are HUGE for a hotel and are updated. The beds were very comfortable with good pillows and sheets. Everything was immaculate in our room! The towels are also very soft. TV's are huge LG flat screens. And did I mention how big the rooms were. That was a nice surprise.
The pools here were amazing. There are several waterslides into a nice spray pool, the hot tub is close so you can sit there and watch you kids slide away. There is also another quiet adults pool & hot tub in the gym which is taken care of very well for those without kids.
The staff was pleasant, the shuttles to and from airport were efficient and only abotu a 10 min. drive, loved the underground parking for your vehicle especially in winter.
We never tried the restaurants so can't comment on that.
Have not found any negatives about this property.

Room Tip: All rooms seem decent.

This Best Western was surprisingly terrific in every way. The hotel staff was very accommodating. When I lost my cell phone charger, they found me another one in their lost and found. The room was very large and equipped with coffee maker, frig, and microwave, as well as free Internet access. The buffet breakfast was included in the room charge and it was excellent. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub, as well. And the hotel also offers a free shuttle ride to and from the airport.

The hotel is located between the city and the airport. It is a hotel like any standard Best Western is. Nothing good to report, but nothing bad to report either. Big rooms, good bed and clean. It is more than suitable for any business trip or single night stay over.
