You've just found the perfect place to stay in Banff. Excellent for quality and value, is exactly as you see in the pictures, facilities, staff, food could not be faulted.

Good for couples or families, if you are looking for a rowdy party house this is not for you

We stayed for two weeks in February 2012 recently refurbished it is tastefully decorated to a high standard.

Enjoy

We stayed at the Banff Aspen Lodge for 4 nights on a recent visit to Banff. The hotel is ok and about out a 5/10 minute walk to downtown Banff. The breakfast was a basic help yourself style, but nothing to rave about.
There is plenty of underground car parking and the outdoor hot tub is nice by an open fire to chill out after a hard day on the slopes.
We drove to all main three ski resorts: Sunshine Village, Lake Louise and Mt Norquay- All fantastic in their own way!

Hello, we just returned to the UK, this morning from a 10 Day/Night skiing holiday at the Banff Aspen Lodge staying on the 3rd floor at the back, above the main hotel, away from Banff Avenue.
All the staffs were excellent and more than happy to help in any way they could. We had only one issue with the bathroom light and that was fixed very quickly, no major issue or problems.
Our room (335) had loads of room, two very comfortable queen beds; tea and coffee making “kit” including free tea and coffee, milk and sugar, a decent size TV with about twenty channels, a desktop fridge. The room was heated by a dry air system and had a thermostat which we could adjust. The bathroom was clean and had a great hot shower. It also had two chairs and a small table, plus the usual iron, ironing board and hair dryer plus a small balcony facing the back of the hotel which made it very quiet to sit out in drinking a free coffee after skiing. The room was freshly decorated and looked well looked after with daily cleaning.

The room had free WI-FI (you get a code from the reception), it’s not fast but is it free and easily good enough to send/receive emails plus do a bit of surfing. Uploading photos that may take some time, it may be better to go to the reception and sign on via the hard wired system they have there, but that will cost some money. You pay your money or accept the free wi-fi, your choice.
The outdoor hot tub is very usable and has free hot towels, just take a dressing gown and slippers ready for the dash back to your room after a dip, and remember it is Canada in winter, its cold.
The Laundry room is very useful, one large wash - $2.50 takes about 40 minutes, and then the dryer (again $2.50) takes about 40 minutes to dry the clothes, very useful.
The hotel is in a great location, only 5 minutes walk, from the main centre of Banff, with all its restaurants, bars and shops. A few decent brand shops but surprisingly very large amounts of “tat” shops which sell the usual holiday gifts.

The breakfast was more than ok, a great granola, yogurts, fresh fruit cocktail, muffins, cakes and toast, plus juice, tea, coffee, remembers this is complimentary and is more than enough before a day of skiing.

I would go back to the Banff Aspen Lodge anytime; we both had a great time,

Thank you Banff Aspen Lodge for a Great Holiday.

Room Tip: Stay in a room at the back of the hotel on the second or third floor, off Banff Avenue, or ask for o...

My fiancé and I went to Banff for the first time with his sisters and a friend and we stayed at the Aspen Lodge for 3 nights. We checked in and were put in a room on the 3rd floor and were just a few steps away from our friend and family's room. The last night we were there we had dinner reservations and plans to go to the movies after and as we were getting ready to go out for dinner the lights in our bathroom went out. We called down to the front desk right away to report the problem and they said they would check the breaker. My fiancé works in the trades and checked the lights and right away we knew it was not 2 burnt out light bulbs but an electrical issue. They cut the breaker to our room for a few minutes and then turned them back on but the problem remained. They then sent someone to our room to say that they don’t have onsite maintenance and the only room they can move us to was on the first floor. We were expected to miss our dinner reservation and the movies to move all of our stuff to the first floor and then to pack it all up all over again in the morning to check out. I explained to them that we had reservations and could not move at the time and that it was very inconvenient to move when we got back only to do it all over again in the morning so we told them we would put up with going to the bathroom and showering in the dark. We were told to mention this at checkout to see what they could do for us for the inconvenience. The next day we checked out on time at 11. The front staff have ABSOLUTELY NO authority to do anything. They took my name and number and said the manager would call me. A day and a half later he did and he told us that because they had a room available that they owed us nothing. So we were expected to ruin our entire evening plans on our last night in Banff because of their electrical issue to move rooms and on top of that we booked the rooms together for a reason so we would be close to our friend and family. We did not even get offered a late checkout to compensate for having to get up early just to have enough time to get ready and shower in the DARK! I will not be staying at this hotel again. I understand things happen but then be fair to your guests who pay good money to stay at your hotel. A few other things to consider that I did not come across in my research to stay here is the breakfast is VERY basic and bland and most of the muffins/cinnamon buns that they do serve are stale. Unless you love toast I would recommend skipping the breakfast and pay to eat out. You pay more for a room to have breakfast included but it’s not worth it. Also the hot tubs and steam room close at ten which I think is a bit early for a hotel in Banff. It’s really too bad that right at the end of our stay we had to encounter this problem. For the money we paid we were not overly impressed and the customer service we received after experiencing problems will make it so we will never stay here again.

Room Tip: Get a room with working lights or prepare to spend valuable time moving!

We managed to get in on a last minute booking last July 2011 and found it a great hotel. Unfortunately we did not have time to sample the hot tub, as we'd just been to the Banff hot spring, but those who were in looked to be thoroughly enjoying the experience. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: overlooking the courtyard is a good place.
