We spent ten wonderful days (nine nights) at Las Brisas. Most of this has been said before in other reviews, but here is what made it special for us (and what could be improved). The hotel’s architecture is stunning, with every room containing a private balcony and ocean view. The sunsets each evening were spectacular. It’s technically not a private beach, but it feels like it since it’s the only property located on this cove and access to the beach is only through the resort. As a result, the beach was not crowed and it was easy to find lounge chairs and a palapa except for Saturday, when they offered day passes to locals and other visitors to the area. We didn’t spend much time at the pool area (because beach was so inviting), but it was well-kept and you could have a beautiful view of the ocean while swimming sunning there.

One highlight for us was the evening release of newly hatched sea turtles. At 6 p.m. several evenings, they released about 100 baby turtles on the beach and hotel guests can watch them scamper into the sea. We took the hotel’s ecological tour (offered Sunday and Wednesday mornings), led by naturalist Javier, and it was quite good and informative.

The hotel’s staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, quick to learn your preferences. Many of them had been there for decades. Alejandro in the Brisas Beach Club and Tomas at the beach drink/food area were outstanding!

Las Brisas is also one of the few Ixtapa hotels that allows you the choice not to go AI. We like to go out for dinner most evenings and the non-AI option let us explore and enjoy Zihua and Ixtapa more thoroughly.

The negatives were few and minor, but here’s what we noticed. The lounge chairs are not the most comfortable and they are somewhat worn. The hotel’s bike tour is a recent addition and they’re still trying to figure this out. Bikes were of poor quality and the tour was on sidewalks and not along any scenic areas (it would have been much better if they dropped you off at one end of the Ciclopista and picked us up at the other end, near Playa Linda or the crocodile reserve). In addition to rethinking the bike tour, the hotel could improve things by publishing a daily activity sheet. We only found out about the eco tour, turtle release and bike tour because we asked or saw them. The stairs and access was not an issue for us but would be for those with mobility issues.

But these were minor. All-in-all, we loved our time at Las Brisas and we definitely will be coming back.

Liked the hotel, beautiful spot, private, but the smoking was everywhere, have not seen that for a long time. The food at the ala carte's was good, and the Solarium, but the Bellavista was the same, day in and day out, not hot and not good. The service was sometimes good and sometimes bad. Always tipped, service is same, you can see they really cater to some guests, how do we get that service? All in all, we really enjoyed it.

Absolutely loved this hotel. The open air lobby and hallways give it such a relaxed and tropical feel, not stuffy and closed in. The rooms are generously sized with spectacular ocean views and large balconies with a hammock. The beach is spectacular with plenty of palapas, lounge chairs and a restaurant. The pools and grounds are beautiful and the restaurants have great service and food.

For me, what sets Las Brisas apart from other similarly-appointed facilities is its hillside location on lush grounds leading down to the ocean. Because it's in a bit of a cove, the beach also has a much more private feel than other spots. The overall design of the building is attractive. as are the common areas and rooms, each with a private terrace affording a view of the ocean. Service is gracious and efficient, and the food is perfectly adequate, if not often terribly inspired. I found it a wonderful value. My only complaint, a minor one, involves the beach and pool chairs, which are uncomfortable to sit in for long periods of time and show signs of much wear.

Each of the rooms in this spectacular setting faces the ocean where the sunsets are amazing. The beach and the pool area have lots of cabanas and umbrellas and neither was crowded during our stay. The service in the restaurants was excellent and the food, when ordered from the menu was very good. The food on the buffets tended to be cold and unappetizing. This hotel is perfect if you are able to handle stairs. It is definitely not for individuals with mobility issues.
