Sitting on the fifth floor patio gazing out at the horizon, 100 feet above the ocean, pelicans glide past at eye level. Boats drift lazily by. No matter what the occupancy is of the hotel, you feel alone in paradise. This is the tye opf place you come to worship the sun, each other, and to be pampered by a fantastic staff.

It all starts at the front gates. They swing open and you are waved in, and whisked off to the front lobby. We were met by Lees and Luz, given an orientation tour, and walked to our room. The room was amazing #55, in the far corner of the hotel. Again, it felt like we were alone in paradise.
The staff was spectacular. When you walk past the front desk, you are greeted by name, and any issue is addressed immediately. We commented on the strength of the sun, and by the time we returned to our room there was a large umbrella on the deck, solving our issue. At each restaurant the staff grants every wish. Deviations from the menu are welcome and your happiness is their only concern. Brisia, Felix, Pablo, Damien, Leo, Josea are the ones that come to mind immediately, but everyone is here to make sure that you have the best vacation possible. We even met the GM, David Merryman in the lobby one day, and he took the time to chat and be sure we were having a great stay.

The tapas bar, and A Mares were great, as was Las Rocas and room service. Again, deviations from the menu were greeted with a smile and a can-do attitude. Housekeeping was invisible but great, and the room was immaculate each day and at night for turn down service.
Read the reviews, know that you will love the place, and enjoy all the resort has to offer. We left the property only twice, once for a local tour and once to go downtown for pizza, and we couldn't wait to get back. We are leaving in the morning, and we can't wait to return.

Room tip: Higher floors are better for privacy and views. Rooms on the cocotales side are conveninet to everything,

Just returned for our 2nd visit to Capella. I can honestly say, this is one of the best hotels we have every stayed. During our stay, we were greeted by name, the remembered it was my wife's birthday and assigned us to the same suite we had on our last visit. Everyone went out of their way to provide HIGH quality service. This is the spot to stay when in Ixtapa.

Room tip: Spend the extra money for a penthouse suite.

For those of you who haven't visited a Capella hotel, you are missing out on hotels with some of the most breathtaking views, and that is not even the best part. The services you receive is absolutely THE BEST. I am huge on customer service and Capella staff is the best at it. You really do not have to leave the hotel for much as they offer you everything there. We left the hotel twice and it was to shop for gifts to take home. The food and drinks are always great and the rooms are amazing. Every year we visit a new Capella and after our visit to Ixtapa this past weekend, we can't wait to visit the next Capella on our list.

Room tip: Best view we saw was from mid level (4th Floor) ask for a room in the middle like #40-#44.

This is a great hotel and wonderful staff who really care about your holiday. I felt like royalty. They care enough to know you by name. It is worth the money, and after the room charges, the rest does not cost that much.

The hotel is not without its challenges. The funiculars (elevator) were broken most of the time, so heads up that there are a lot of stairs and you have to be prepared to climb at least 6 stories up and down to eat or go to the pool. The food is okay, but unimaginative and mostlyy boring.

The most disappointing thing is that there is no beach, no beach facilities anywhere and no affiliation with any beach clubs. For a hotel of the caliber, this is a surprise. The hotel website and travel agents need to be transparent about this. I likely would not have stayed there had I known I'd be sitting around a pool for a week.

Room tip: The higher up the cliff you are the cooler and breezier the rooms. Some suites have the private pool in the shade - choose wisely.

Following 7 weeks of travel through South America we concluded our trip at the Capella. We were looking for a quiet and luxurious retreat to rewind from our active adventure. The Capella was everything we had hoped for. They could not do enough to make our stay magical. The food was excellent - do not miss the seafood market where the chef cooks the food to your liking. The private plunge pools mean you never want to leave your room. Which we didn't. The spa was also just perfect. If you are in Ixtapa choose Capella. We definitely will come again.
