I stayed at the hotel the past week with 5 friends of mine. Let me tell you that I had the most pleasant stay at the hotel. It was really clean, the room had a lot of space for everyone´s luggage. It had only one bathroom and for big groups it can be a little bit uncomfortable but we did our best to try to make it work. The beach club was good, and the food also good. Anyway, if you are one of those (like me) who likes to go out and explore, let me tell you that the hotel´s location is reeeeeally good. It's like 5 mins away (by car) from the beach Carrizalillo, about 10-15 mins from Zicatela (very popular).

The service at the hotel was very good, they were really friendly. The only bad thing was that service at the restaurant took too long :(

I would definitely would recommend you to stay there.

Statyed here with my friend and we had a great time! Our room was clean, the staff were friendly and even if the hotel is not located in the center irs still close to everything! My favourite part with this hotel is their beach club ! Only 2 min away with a free shuttle bus. It's located at the beach and it's beautiful ! The beach club it's a must while here!

Great Oaxacan hospitality. This hotel is located at a more residential area away from the Zicatela noisy street with a beach club, pool and outstanding food. I was traveling with my girlfriend and the experience could have not been better.

Ok, we arrived at Villasol exhausted after a 10 hour long journey through the mountains(which was not the hotels fault). The rececptionist was very young and unexperienced. He seemed nervous and couldnt find our reservation. It took him for ages and he allocated us in a horrible and dirty room with view to a road being renovated. After a complaint and enquiry we found out that for 12 dollars extra a night we could get a room with a balcony. Travelling 2 couples with children and tired after a long journey it was quite annoying that he didnt suggest this in the beginning or gave us a decent room.
Our friends had booked a master suite and this was a complete joke. The receptionist gave them a "suite" in the basement level, smelling humid and dark. So we also had to complain about this and they were then given a "suite" on the 2nd floor with no balconies, view to a construction site, a table with no chairs and a kitchen in the suite where the fridge was disconnected and a completely empty kitchen(no plates, glasses ,pans, etc). Furthermore it was a bit dirty with chewing gum on the floor and just seemed old and outdated.
What before had been a lovely breakfast buffet (I had eaten breakfast there once before )was now cut down to a very empty breakfast restaurant with no a la carte just a couple choices. It tasted ok, nothing extraordinary there. Service was so slow and they spent more time chatting to each other than serving guests.
The pool had loose tiles and we were not sure if they had a filtration system to keep it hygienic.
To make things worse the receptionist upon arrival forgot to give us beach club bracelets, breakfast vouchers and also forgot to offers us to open a credit card voucher so we could pay with the room number.
The wifi is not good at all and does not reach the rooms.

All in all this hotel is not worth its 4 stars and as I spoke with the kind room manager Alejandra about their really need to get their act together. She explained that they are in a transitional period right now but as a guest you are not supposed to be a victim of this. And Alejandra can not do anything about her bosses not managing well. The staff just seemed affected by lack of good and organised management and were overall so indifferent to us and did not speak a word of english(we also speak spanish so it helped but our friends visiting didnt). The beach club and its staff were great but are located 800 meters from the hotel.

We can at this moment not recommend Hotel Suites Villasol in Puerto Escondido!

Room Tip: Dont stay here but if you do ask for the rooms with large balconys facing the pool.

Thanks for review the hotel.

We regret your stay was not the expected. Let me tell you that many of the things you say were isolated incidents, we usually have good comments and people recomend us.

we are in a transition stage and maybe that affected your stay. We hope you give us a second chance, we're sure your vacation will be unforgettable!

First the positives: this hotel offers an awesome beach club, just 2 min drive away (or there is a free shuttle). Use of beach club is free, reasonably priced food at the club, and great place for families: beach, pool, playhouse. Otherwise, I CANNOT recommend this hotel. We are family with 3 young children. Cancelled our second night here and went elsewhere. Why? First: our room was small, poorly maintained, and dirty, nothing like what was represented online. The manager was completely ambivolent. We had to pay an additional $200 pesos to upgrade to a room that with ‘acceptable’ standard of cleanliness. Even so it had a strong pet odor and the AC didn’t work (on the 3rd floor in the tropics!). Second: The Staff can only be described as indifferent. I pity any guest who doesn’t speak Spanish. Furthermore, the cleaning lady removed our camera battery and charger, which we had left plugged in to charge, and then she disappeared. No one seemed to care! FYI: (1) Please understand that the ‘free’ continental breakfast is a choice between EITHER fresh juice (which was truly delicious) OR fresh fruit with granola and/or yoghurt, dry toast with butter and jam, and coffee/tea. That’s it. If you’re traveling with kids, they are NOT included in the breakfast and you will have to pay for their food. (2) WiFi only works in reception area or restaurant –NOT in rooms. Limited off-street parking with no security and poor illumination.

Room Tip: try another hotel
