Had brilliant fish and chips here. There is the option to eat in as there are several chairs and tables. The fish is so fresh and the batter is really clean and crispy.

Visited with friends on day out. Spotlessly clean, delicious well cooked scampi, fish and chips. Extremely large portions, so can easily share, especially with children. Can eat in or takeaway.

Had take away from here. Fresh fish and the chips were lovely. Each portion comes with a small pot of tartar sauce and lemon wedge. You can eat in if you want. They sell seafood by the tub or a mixed platter and there is an extensive range of food on offer.

After being told takeaway plaice and chips would be £15 from a popular sea front establishment, we headed up to the Mersea Island Fish Bar. And we're so glad we did! Fish was freshly cooked, with crispy batter and fluffy moist fish. Chips were crispy and just how we like them. The tub of tartare sauce and lemon wedges were a lovely touch (although we weren't keen on the tartare sauce...... not enough capers!). Pleasant staff and a reasonable price. Winner winner, fish and chip dinner!

The food here is lovely; the fish, mouth-watering. You can eat in or take it down to the beach; totally up to you and that's the simplistic beauty of this place.

My only grumble would be the use of single-use plastic cutlery. They provide your lovely food, well protected in cardboard boxes, so I don't understand why use plastic cutlery... especially in the current climate of stopping single-use plastic (drinking straws, plastic bags, cutlery, plates, ear buds, the list goes on & on!) I don't imagine it would take much to hand out the old-style wooden forks instead, or to provide stainless steel cutlery for use if you eat in.

That aside though, I'd highly recommend this place for a good ol' fish supper.
