We had a one bedroom suite #301 and our view was amazing. The hotel is in a great location sitting just above the Mango Deck and The Office. It’s also a nice (15 minute) walk to town via the beach. Our room was cleaned every morning by the time we got back from our morning walk and breakfast. The staff is really friendly, however they do push the timeshares on you which I did not appreciate at all. I actually had to be very firm at check-in letting the timeshare guy know that this was not our first time in Cabo or the hotel for that matter and we were not interested in a timeshare. Thankfully we were not approached about it for the rest of our trip. Overall we had a great time.

Casa Dorada has the best spa ever. I love their gym, hot tub, steam room & sauna. With lounges & waterfalls & relaxing music I actually fall asleep! The outdoor pools & hot tubs are excellent also. A beach you can swim in, lots of activities. Great rooms & food. I highly recommend to everyone.

Casa Dorada is in a perfect spot for someone that wants to really enjoy what Cabo has to offer. The property is well taken care of by a great staff. Everyone that worked at the resort was as nice as can be. The beach is located right outside the resort and there are plenty of private lounge chairs for you to choose from to enjoy the beach. The 2 large pools are surrounded by lounge chairs for you to relax in. The pool and beach service is great also. The rooms are HUGE. They are clean and comfortable with large balconies. Every room faces the pool/beach. There are plenty of restaurants on the property and near by to enjoy. Downtown Cabo is a short walk away also. We will be staying here again and again.

This is the second time we went to Casa Dorada. Was there in 2011. It's still a wonderful place but it was a bit different this time. All in all, we had a good time and I'm not usually one to leave reviews, but... Anyway, I will get my lack of 5 stars out of the way first.

We spend most of our time at the pools. We were amazed to find that the couples were very much in the minority as there were MANY more large - and often partying - groups there this time. I suppose that at least in part, it could be that because the peso is down it makes the whole area more affordable for groups of Americans who want to go in together on a vacation like that. A great idea actually. (So much cheaper than Hawaii right now.) So, it just is what it is and depends on what you are looking for. Just sayin' in case anyone wants to know - both for the groups who like to party as well as couples who might want a more quiet experience.

Of course we knew going in that you can hear a lot of music some nights coming from Mango Deck. We understand that a lot of partying can go on there (and their staged entertainment can be pretty fun and crazy - have gone there as late as early evening) but bring earplugs if you want to get a good sleep on those late nights. And often on the week-ends the hotel will have music for a wedding or other celebration - which happened one night. The booming music from the LOUD reception did not end until 11:00 p.m. We get it - but compromise after 9:00 or something and at least turn down the music a bit. The reception (outside at the restaurant) was in a small area and did not need to be THAT loud. You could hear it everywhere.

Well, now to our main complaint: Last time we did not recall so much smoking allowed around - and even IN the pools! When you think of a name like Casa Dorada 'Resort and Spa', you don't think of smoking being allowed. This was VERY upsetting to us, especially the multiple times a group of men hogged the swim-up bar area with large cigars which they smoked for what seemed like forever. 4 of them! We couldn't tolerate it and were forced to move away. How fair is that?! Some cigarette smokers too. And guys smoking on their balcony next to us. We couldn't be out there at those times. Both my husband and I - and others we spoke to - are sensitive to smoke - especially cigars. We tired of smelling it - and with those cigars, seeing it cloud up the whole area by the swim-up bar.

So... Casa Dorada: Seriously - what is up with that? How about a "No fumar" sign? I really don't think that is going to affect your occupancy. Second hand smoke is not a good thing - indoors or out. And MOST people don't smoke nor want to be around it, especially in pools and on verandas where they want to relax - and have paid to do so. We appreciated the fact The Office, for one, is respectful of even sea life in not handing out plastic straws. So how about it? We liked most all of the other care you gave us. Truly and thank you. But again... No fumar. Es respetuoso...

As always, the pool staff is wonderful, the pools are the perfect temp and relaxing (with rafts and tubes if you want them), the swim-up bar is fun (without smokers, that is) and overall, a very attentive group of workers who want to make sure you're having a good time. They laugh and smile a lot and truly seem to care. Bar food is fairly good, a restaurant and a pizza place, ice-cream and sushi. (That was really good.) The rooms are wonderful and spacious suites, with large bedroom(s), large spa tub, kitchen and living area. The view of the pools and water is awesome. Really beautiful. We noticed a DVD player in the "living room" and wished we had brought some movies as the TVs had very limited stations for us. But it really is a nice hotel and we enjoyed our stay.

Oh... one other bit of feedback. Why are there no "Do not Disturb" signs that you can leave on your door? The maids knock to see if you're in your room and you have to go answer. This is if you're not in the shower or bathroom, sleeping or otherwise "engaged". Then they just come in. We've never seen that at any hotel anywhere before. Same thing at night. They want to leave you chocolates on your pillow and perhaps restock your frig with waters, etc. There were a few times we had to tell them we had not yet left for the morning (knocking fairly early) or later on, when we were in for the night and had to tell them them no thanks. Feels invasive.

And as far as the area in general; great restaurants very close by and also with a bit of walk to the marina and town. (Tho lots of taxis if needed.) Beach is fun. Little places to hang out and drink/eat - sand under your feet. The Office especially. If you've never been before, be aware that there are vendors with their wares walking up and down the beach who will come right up to you. Some things you may want but if not, you get used to it. Pretty fun area.

P.S. --- I have only one complaint about the staff and I'm sure he is very much in the minority as most of them are warm, friendly and very accommodating. As he was too - for the most part. It's minor in comparison and I leave this feedback strictly for the hotel so that they can be aware. When we were in the lobby area after we had checked out and were waiting for our shuttle to the airport, one of the young workers came up and started talking to us. Very nice, very fluent in English and easy to talk to. As our conversation progressed, he asked where we were from. We said Napa Valley. He said that he knew there were a LOT of Mexican people there now. We politely said, "Yes... in fact, in Napa Town, we are now in the minority." He said, "Yes - we are taking it back, slow but sure." I personally felt that to be rude and insulting. Did he think that would make us feel good to hear that? I refrained from saying anything back - tho was highly tempted and there's much I could have said about it! Many Americans have their own knowledge, opinions and viewpoint as well. But I did not want to end the trip that way. Again, overall, we had a good time.

Room Tip: Request a higher floor if possible. More private and a better view.

I recently returned from my annual trip to Cabo, and I always stay at Casa Dorada through my time share. This is a beautiful resort and the staff and service are excellent. Emelio (pool attendant) is super friendly and always willing to help get your towels, chairs, umbrellas, and whatever else you need to make your day enjoyable. I had several massages with Mario who does amazing work, including body scrubs and facials. They also have a relaxing spa that owners can use which has a steam room, sauna, hot tub, cold tubs, and showers. My only complaint about the spa this time, is that they have started selling gym memberships to outside clients, and in the evening it is full of people who aren't there to relax, so they are talking loudly, putting their clothes everywhere, and making a bunch of noise which is disturbing to other guests there, even though the signs say "Quiet Area". They should really reconsider if that is a good business practice of letting non hotel guests use the facilities. Other than that, this is an awesome resort and I can't wait to get back there soon.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the Mango bar if you are sensitive to noise.
