we stayed here for two nights as we were attending a wedding in Midhurst. the rooms were spacious and clean, bright and well appointed. we had some doubts as it is on a relatively busy road, but it was very quiet even with the windows open. the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful, with an especial thanks to the breakfast waitress. the gem in this pub though is the food. it is exceptional. we had dinner on the first night and were surprised and the variety on offer. the quality and presentation were good, the portions may be a little on the large side, but we managed to finish the meal! I had the plaice and it was gorgeous, tender and tasty, we also had the tempura prawns which were crisp and succulent. the chef is intending to do a different type of prawn starter and gave us a taster, even better!

We booked a table for 4 for Sunday lunch on 18th Feb. We hadn’t eaten in the Flying Bull for several months, but wanted somewhere local that was dog friendly too.
We had two roast rib eye, and two roast lamb. All the meals were well cooked and served with plenty of vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. The welsh lady who took our order was very friendly, as was the landlord, I assume, who served our drinks.
It is great to see our local pub doing well again, and offering great food. We will be back.

We had booked a table for 4 and ordered some wine while we waited for our meals to be cooked. It advised on menu the wait might be 25 minutes as chef would be cooking from fresh. We were chatting away but eventually realised 45 minutes has elapsed. On enquiry the manager went to investigate and returned to apologise that our order has somehow been lost and our meal would be free. The chef then came out to apologise himself and he also said our meal would be free and we could have 2 complimentary desserts as well. The meal was absolutely delicious - the meat was so tender and the chef's own mint sauce with the lamb was the best of all. In fact we were so replete that we did not avail ourselves of the desserts. Finally the lady who said she had caused the mix up also came to apologise. We live in Ireland but if we lived locally to Liphook, this would certainly be out favourite place to eat.

I ordered the Lamb Sunday roast dinner for £16, the meat was ok but the accompaniments were small. There were limited greens on the plate, 3 small quarters of roast potato and a mini Yorkshire pudding. So I asked for another Yorkshire. My husband really enjoyed the quality of the beef in his roast dinner for £17.
The staff were friendly, but it was a dis-concerning that the two chefs who were walking around the restaurant seemed to be dressed in grubby chef whites (one in old jeans and old trainers) and it was the start of service (12:15 on Sunday). I think the new management need to tighten up uniform policy. Bottle of prosecco costs £23 and children's roast for £10 - tad pricey.
