“Great little flat”
Reviewed 12 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Worth mentioning: there is no smoke alarm in the flat. As we were checking out we locked the back door and realised there was an electrical fire (toaster and kettle) in the flat next door (which was not fitted with a smoke alarm either). We had peered through the open kitchen window when black smoke was pouring out. We raised the alarm and nobody was injured or hurt (the tenant was working in the pub and therefore not in). Hopefully the owner will now fit the flat with a smoke alarm.
On a more positive note: We stayed in Nettlescombe from 4th - 11th July 2015 and very much enjoyed our stay. The flat is clean with a fully functional and well equipped kitchen. There was plenty of DVDs and books and even a chess set + lots of other games. There is no outside space other than a very small bench (the birds underneath the roof have made it rather unattractive), however, there is a huge green area with a picnic table 2 min. walk away ... the path leads to the beach which is 5 min. away. We would venture down to the picnic table with a thermos flask and coffee and read in the afternoon sun ... absolutely wonderful! The flat is just outside Branscombe and almost opposite the pub (Masons Arms), but it is rather quiet and peaceful - great pub with a really good atmosphere. We recommend the coastal walks starting from the beach in Branscombe (by the Sea Shanty) either to Seaton via Beer and back (approx. 7-8 miles) or from Branscombe to Sidmouth and back (approx. 12 miles). Lyme Regis is a must ... and the beach is a rather nice one (ideal for body boarding if the waves are big enough). Lots of bakeries and ice cream options and lots of interesting little shops. The Wednesday market in Exmouth with local produce is fab ... try the sausages (Sausages from Devon, made in Heaven) ... the best there are ... ever!!!

Management Response
20 Jul 2015
I'm glad our customers enjoyed there stay at Nestlecombe but very sorry they experienced the trauma of a fire in the next door flat as they were leaving. I would like to add that we do have a working fire alarm fitted in our flat which we check regularly, and know that it goes off if as we are occasionally forgetful when cooking!
As the customer said, Nestlecombe is in a beautiful and peaceful area of Devon with many picnicking spots in easy walking distance. We try to keep it welcoming and friendly. Our prices are set to give good value in this much sought after area of Devon.

“Great apartment so well situated and home from home.”
Reviewed 22 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Wet stayed in apartment with our 16 month old granddaughter . Apartment is well situated and easy to find in this lovely village. Owner seemed to have thought of everything you will need for a self catering holiday . Even toys and books !
Central position to tour East Devon. We would love to go back but for a longer stay.
Great communication from the owner and all our needs were met!

“Great place to base a chill out weekend”

The flat is located in the centre of a small village only a few staggering steps from the pub, and a 15 minute stroll from the beach. We loved the quiet and peace we found in the village, and the sunshine made all the difference.
The flat is well equipped with a small cupboard of food essentials like salt and sugar. The rooms are not large by our home standards, more like cosy. Not the most comfortable bed I have slept in, but after a couple of beers who cares? We walked along the coast path to Beer - and back again and were able to explore the area around East Devon, an area of outstanding beauty that seems to be stuck in a time warp. Would love to go back for more of the same.

The accommodation was very good with everything you would need. Situated in a perfect location with lovely walks to the beach and surrounding areas. Would definitely choose this accommodation again.

“Perfect Location and Great Value”

My family and I go to East Devon every year and we have stayed at Nestlecombe a number of times now. We love the quiet village of Branscombe, and Nestlecombe is in a perfect location being just ten minutes walk from the large but quiet beach and just a one minute walk from the Masons Arms which serves good food and has a good selection of local ales. Within walking distance there is also a bakery serving excellent cream teas, a park for the children along with tennis court and another pub, The Fountains Head, which is another real ale heaven.!

The flat is comfortable and well equipped, and there is also a decent selection of books, DVDs and childrens games if they are needed at any time ! Some incredibly scenic walks are right on your doorstep here, there are great coastal walks in both directions (Beer to the east and Sidmouth to the west) and the coastal path to Beer (which starts at the caravan park just above the beach) is absolutely spectacular.

And not too far from Branscombe, there are some good attractions for the children including both the Pecorama and Quarry Caves in the neighbouring village of Beer, the donkey sanctuary just outside Branscombe and the tramway at Seaton. A little further afield there are plenty of childrens attractions for all ages such as Crealy Adventure Park, the World of Country Life at Exmouth and Bicton Gardens, all of which are near to Exeter which is a city that is certainly worth a visit.

Overall, Nestlecombe is great value accomodation situated in a wonderful part of East Devon
