Food is nothing above average. Just good bread and ok coffee, main meals are very ordinary and a bit overpriced for what you get. The place is also very loud and has terrible service, it takes forever to get a waiter to bring you something besides bread.

What I found to be terrible and preposterous was the ignorance and lack of respect from the manager and employees towards a blind client. According to the manager Guide dogs are not allowed in the restaurant, as far as I know guide dogs are allowed by law practically everywhere in the world, except for this place according to the managers ignorance. Because of this incident I decided to pay my bill and leave, and will never give them another of my hard earned dollars even though I am scheduled to visit the city frequently in the coming year. In the same way I will advise all of my colleagues and travelers to do the same. This reminds me of my college days, where I saw guide dogs being trained all over the University facilities like they were another student.

El Itacate is a local bakery and restaurant famous for its sweetbread and Mexican/regional food. Lomas de Rosales is its nicest location (and only one with parking). Despite tough competition from national chains it remains a locals' favorite for breakfast, dinner or just having a coffee or tea. I really like their chilaquiles and enpipianadas (a kind of non-spicy enchilada). It can get really crowded during peak hours and that can make service slow.

This is a casual restaurant, popular with locals, best for breakfast, don’t miss the “pan dulce” (sweet bread) a Mexican tradition, here is very very good, has its own bakery, you don’t have to go to México city or other place to taste it at is best, ask for “chocolate caliente” or “café con leche”, I tried the quesadillas on pumpkin seed sauce and the bocoles and were great. This restaurant confirms what I always said about Tampico; is one of the best places in Mexico to eat.

Fine bakery. Great for power breakfasts. Bocoles, is a popular dish. but not at the height of the best.
