I stayed here for a full weekend around the end of June 2015. What attracted me was the quality of the reviews on here. Do you know? It is even better than the reviews say it is.
It is run by a couple Sean & Marion who make every effort they can to make sure you enjoy your stay.
The place is not the easiest to find but be patient because when you do it is well worth the effort. Out in the country in County Laois it really is a tranquil place. At night when you sit outside you can hear nothing and I mean nothing, except perhaps a distant sheep or cow, it is also noticeable that you can see the stars without any light pollution. You are right out in the countryside, and it is a great place for a "Chill Out".
The rooms are very clean and are cleaned properly every morning. The showers are large and roomy and significantly have a wand rather than a sprinkler high above your head, There is plenty of space in the rooms as well.
At night the bar is a must (but you can watch the Sky TV in lounge if you want instead). A great place for pint and you are made welcome not just by Sean behind the bar but by the locals that go in for a late night drink too. Of course most importantly it also keeps the usual Irish countryside licensing hours.
Breakfast is huge. So is the selection. Fruit, yogurt, and all the expected cereals, a full breakfast with everything you could possibly expect. Other guests had just what they wanted and I noted a vegetarian option too. But you must try Marion's home made brown bread she could make a fortune selling it.
Car parking is safe, the wifi works very well and you are not rushed out of your room in a morning.
It is an ideal stopping off point on route between Dublin and the West of Ireland (just a nice distance from Dublin), but also has fishing and golf courses locally.
The price 40 Euro's is terrific value for money the exchange rate from Sterling makes it only £29. . . A cheap holiday.
I will definitely be back next time I go to Ireland

I first reviewed Fox Rock Inn as a customer just using the excellent bar in April, while staying nearby. On this visit Marian showed us round the main part of the hotel,we where so impressed we came back to Clough in June and stayed there. The bedrooms are first class.with all the usual niceties(tea coffee etc) and the en suite is beautifully set out to make best use of space.Breakfast is served in the lounge/dining room and it is more a banquet the portions are so generous. For trips around Ireland, this hotel is ideal, as most popular destinations are within two hours driving.I can't praise this hotel enough and will be back soon. Thanks Marian and Sean we loved every minute.John B Sheffield.

Have stayed at the Foxrock Inn on an annual golfing break for the last 9 years.Could not praise this place more highly.. Central for all the golf courses in County Laois Small pub in a village with very comfortable rooms and breakfast and evening meal to die for. Excellent value for money! Sean and Marian could not make you feel more welcome, treated like one of the family.Nothing is too much trouble for them. The locals are a great bunch and the "craic" in the evening is terrific.
Have never stayed in a more friendly place. Thanks Sean and Marian. Love you both.

We went in this bar just about every night we were in Clough, and to be honest,we wish we had gone in every night as it's a waste of a good pub not to go in.Every one of the locals treated us like friends as soon as they knew we were on holiday in Fitzpatrick's Cottage. The Guinness is superb,I've never liked it till I tried it served by Sean,it's a lot different to the stuff they sell in UK. If you find yourself in Ireland, try this bar you won't regret it,if you have too much Guinness, you can stay B&B,Sean and Marian will make you very welcome as they did us.Thanks Sean and Marian.
