I can only repeat the other reviews that are left about the Old Manse, lovely house, lovely views, lovely breakfast, lovely pub up the road and most of all lovely hosts. This is by far the best night we have had away in any hotel or guest house and would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Thanks again for a great stay and we will see you again one day soon.

Matt & Claire

Attention to detail in every respect. A genuine welcome on arrival, luggage taken to the room, tea with cake in the sitting room and that was just the first hour! The rooms including the en-suite bathrooms are superbly equipped and the beds guarantee a good nights sleep. Everything is tastefully presented.
Each morning personal breakfast requirements are attentively met. For me the full locally sourced Northumbrian breakfast cooked by Ian and including his own baked bean recipe takes some beating.
Mary ensures everyone makes the best of their visit to the county with advice, maps, discount vouchers etc etc. Superb.

Thanks for your review. I'm glad we were able to make such a good impression in the first hour, but more so that we were able to keep it up during the rest of your stay.

We spent a week in The Old Manse at Chatton in Northumberland. Everything went really well. Ian and Mary are the perfect hosts. The Old manse was very comfortable.
The breakfasts were superb - beautifully cooked and lots of choice - delicious.
There was lots of information about what to do and where to go, and occasionally when the weather was wet, we could stay at The Old Manse during the day.

Glad that you felt sufficiently at home that you could stay in when the weather was (uncommonly) inclement, but there's so much to see and do in this area that it's worth bringing a hat & coat just in case.

We arrived quite a bit earlier than we should and were hesitant to knock. We needn't have worried as we were greeted by Ian who welcomed us in and, although our room wasn't quite ready, took us into the guests' lounge and conservatory. He was in the middle of making sausages but stopped to bring us coffee and fruit bread. Once the room was ready Mary came in and chatted to us and showed us maps and gave us information about the area and suggested that if we wanted to eat at the local pub we should book and kindly phoned and booked it for us.

Our room was amazing, a very comfortable four-poster bed, a sofa, a TV, a fridge with milk, water, chocolate biscuits and a large bathroom with bath and shower. The views from the room were amazing. Unfortunately, in the early hours of Sunday morning, my husband became unwell and Mary couldn't have been kinder. My husband was confined to bed and I was very comfortable both in our room and the conservatory and had a lovely stroll around the beautiful garden. Breakfast was very substantial with cereals, fruit and a choice of the usual ingredients for a full English breakfast, including Ian's amazing home made sausages and all the locally sourced produce.

This really is the best B & B we have stayed in and would thoroughly recommend it.

It was such a shame your husband wasn't well enough to try the breakfast (hope he's fully recovered now) - he was so looking forward to trying the home made sausages. I supopose it goes without saying that you will be back, just so that he can make the most of our fine breakfast.

We booked a deluxe double, and had a very spacious room - really a mini-suite, with a large bedroom, and a smaller sitting room. The bedroom had a separate door opening to the back garden, and we were able to park there. The bathroom was modern and immaculate. A good-sized bath, and a separate large shower. And very nice toiletries. The sitting room had a large flat screen TV, 2 new-looking comfy chairs, a sideboard, with built in fridge. There was plenty light from the large windows to the garden. Everything seemed to have been thought of - a pint of milk in the fridge, tissues, a shoe horn, plasters for sore feet.....
It's the best B&B we have ever visited. Not the cheapest - but very worth the cost.

Room Tip: Double deluxe was excellent

We're glad you enjoyed your stay and were comfortable in the Ingram Suite. Cheaper accommodation may be found if you look for it, but you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere cheaper with our level of facilities - we do not use a costing formula but charge what we would would feel comfortable paying for this level of accomodation. Remember, it's always cheaper to book direct!
