Our first visit to beautifull Northumberland & what a great guesthouse to choose as our base for exploring. The rooms available in the guesthouse are all excellant, ours was beautifully furnished & spotlessly clean, with everything you could possibly wish for. Our wonderfull hosts, Christine & Tony had thought of everything, so if you are like us & always arrive without something you need, believe me its already in your room anyway, how good is that.
each morning, whilst eating our way through the great breakfasts in the spacious conservatory, we were treated to a spectacular variety of birds eating from the numerous feeders placed around the garden, a great start to the day.
The Old manse is perfectly located for exploring the award winning coastal areas & its many spectacular castles, the National Park is just as close for those who love the many walks it provides & a trip to Edinburgh is well within reach (Maybe next time for us).
Their are so many National Trust & historical places to visit that we will need more visits to complete the tour of this lovely part of Britain.
Findind places to eat whilst out & about was no problem at all, it was great to have fish & chips on the seafront at Seahouses whilst viewing the Farne Islands just offshore. Of particular note, Northumberland offers fabulous photographic opportunities for those who like me are permenanently attached to a camera.
What elase can we say, Christine & Tony were marvellous hosts & always very helpful, their were no negatives for us.
Thanks for a great stay, hope to see you again soon.

Thank you to all our reviewers for their responses. Repeat business and extended stays mean less opportunity for new reviews so we are most grateful to those who have taken the time and effort to leave comments. See you again - soon Best wishes Christine and Tony.

This must be the best Guest house in England, I've not tried them all but have stayed in a fair number.Breakfast is excellent with loads of options. Rooms are spacious and well equiped with toiletries, the ground floor room is actually a flat! Beds are comfortable and the rooms are quiet and private. Chris and Tony are excellent hosts and will help with directions and information about attractions and local restaurants. Chatton is a good central location for touring the whole of Northumberland, and there is a good mix of retaurants not too far away. Will certainly stay again on my next visit to Northumberland!

Fabulous 5 star B&B - nothing is too much trouble for the owners. We keep going back as we love the place. The rooms are luxurious and peaceful - we always feel so relaxed after our break. The breakfasts are a delight....so much choice. We highly recommend a stay there.

We have just enjoyed a 2-night stay at The Old Manse and it most certainly won't be our last; it is quite possibly the best B&B we have ever stayed in. Christine is the perfect hostess, ably assisted by Tony, and keeps everything immaculate. We were warmly welcomed with a genuine smile and interest in ourselves, a cafetiere of real coffee and some wonderful cake. The room was everything you could hope for, with a myriad of finishing touches that made it feel really very special. If you forget anything, then don't worry because there is probably a substitute near at hand. Breakfast was superb with more than enough to keep even the heartiest eater going until dinner time. The location is perfect for touring this area and is easily accessed from the A1. We cannot recommend The Old Manse highly enough; you will feel completely and utterly at home.

Had a delightful week. Wonderful setting. Warm welcome. Delicious cooked breakfasts.

Perfection.

What more can I say ? - Christine was a brilliant hostess and the Old Manse the perfect refuge at the end of long golden days tramping through the Cheviots and along wild Northumberland beaches.

So much to see and do. I loved it.
