Firstly we stayed in rooms 4 and 6 these are front facing rooms. This was perfect for us as the Dragon Festival Parade goes past the front of the hotel.

We were a group of 4. I my husband and our 2 girls we had 2 double bedrooms. The rooms are clean and tidy the bed covers were changed everyday. The shower was perfect and the beds were very comfortable.

The breakfast buffet has something to please everyone including boiled eggs, fresh bread rolls, cheese ham and cereal plus tea, coffee and fresh juice. I also believe
that they would be prepared to cater for any indiidual needs, although we did not have any.

We also had evening meals there and they were perfactly cooked and reasonable priced.

Everyone was friendly and the owners even lent us umbrellers when it was raining and we were going out.
You are given a separate door key to go in the building when the cafe is closed which means you can come and go anytime you like.

would reccommend to anyone.

Furth im Wald is a pleasant border town in Bavaria where the Bavarian woods meet the Bavarian woods with the Czech Republic in walking distance and accessible by local train. The Muelberger's family inn is an ideal centre for exploring this (still very German) territory. Splendid buffet breakfasts (eggs, cheese, ham, cereal, fruit, yogurt and good local bread and baking) was included in the room rates. We stayed in a large family room - modernised wood lined, tiled floor traditional decor with good shower. This just what we wanted for walking holiday where we needed to cope with muddy boots and wet clothes. The owners were very good hosts (Barbara speaks good English). The café bar is frequented by an interesting mixture of visitors and locals and serves a wide variety of drinks and cakes and snacks. Lunch and dinner has a varied menu of local dishes.
An inn not a four star hotel - but great value and very interesting. Outstanding in its class.

My wife and I lived in Germany for four years in the 1980's, and have visited Germany and Austria (mostly in Bavaria) 6 times in the last 10 years. The experience we had at the Hotel Muehlberger, from reservation to departure, is either the finest we have ever had in Europe or one of the best two or three. Let me explain.

Accommodations were amazing, a three-bed room, very large and spacious, beautifully furnished in Bavarian style, exceptionally clean with crisp linens, comforters, and pillows. The Gasthof and Cafe were nicely furnished in traditional German fashion and served excellent food (but more on that later). The picture of the Hotel on the web doesn't do it justice -- much nicer than the picture depicts and only minutes from the main street and the train station.

There are so many good things to say about this place and people I don't know where to begin. We made reservations via the internet, getting very prompt replies in excellent English. We had several enquiries about available overnight parking while we went to Prague and how to get train tickets. Not only did they respond quickly but Frau Muehlberger went to the train station to verify they would be open the morning we wanted to leave and that tickets would be available. She went "beyond the call of duty" in helping us.

The Gasthof and Cafe are excellent, both in decor and quality of food. After spending one night there we went to Prague for two nights, returning to stay another night at this Hotel -- returning about 800PM. Because this was just before New Years and the tourist traffic was down there were not many visitors about the town. When we returned we found they had graciously kept the kitchen open for us, knowing we were coming back and were looking forward to a dinner there (since we had enjoyed our first one so much). Check out the rumpsteak and mixed grill platters. Later than evening, when my son asked if he could buy a beer glass as a souvenir, they actually gave it to him -- the first time that has happened EVER in our stays in Europe. The breakfast buffet was similarly bountiful -- everything you could ask for, including items not normally found. It was FANTASTIC!

As great as the good and accommodations were, it was Herr and Frau Muehlberger that makes this place so great. They are friendly, accommodating and helpful, and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I feel like we have friends there, not just a hostess. We WILL come back here again -- it is a terrific place with terrific people -- we highly recommend it.
