The rooms were adorn with colorful artwork, we enjoyed a delicious fresh breakfast each morning and the proximity to the shops and restaurants of Tulum as well as the ruins and cenotes. The service was excellent, the staff was very friendly. I would come back again and recommend to friends and family

We recently spent a week at this small (around 30 rooms) hotel. The part in use consisted of a self-described "Alta cuisine" restaurant in the front and a 3 floor building with rooms around the perimeter with an open-to-the air center area which included a very small pool. A unused area which shares one wall may have been part of the place in a previous period. The roof is partly covered with tarps. On the third floor there are 3 out-of-service hot tubs. The upper floors are reached by a spiral staircase; there is no elevator. There is parking space for about 6-8 cars in front of the building which serves the restaurant and the hotel. The building appeared to be a very old building which seemed to have had an austere remodeling. As the remodeling did not include a permanent sign at the front of the building, the only identifying signage was a banner on a side of the parking area.

Our room was clean, comfortable, and quite adequate for our needs. It included an individual heating/AC unit which worked well. It had no clock, phone, or microwave but did include a refrigerator and TV. Unlike many satellite TV services in Mexico, the only English language program was a version of CNN. Since the hotel fronted a very busy road, some traffic noise was inevitable. As the floor was tiled rather than carpeted, there was some noise transmitted from the room over us when a chair was moved.

The staff was pleasant and courteous; there was one incident in which the dinner waiter appeared to forget the change and had to be reminded to bring it. The hot breakfast was good.

The least attractive aspect of the place is that it is a long long way from the beach. It is much too far to walk or bike there and, frankly, aside from the Tulum ruins, the beach is about all there is in the way of attractions in the area. Within a reasonable walking distance are substantial numbers of restaurants and other services.

Dear Eugene,

Thank you so much for your honesty in your comment and for choosing us, we don´t claim to be perfect but still we do our best to enhance your experience and showcase our mexican culture with paintings, local crafts, decoration and viid colors around the hotel. All of that is done for you and hoping to give you a nice experience, we also have some of the best chefs in the area to showcase our mexican cuisine. We know that the beach is 3.5 kms from the hotel but still you have cenote 1 km away, downtown main avenue 200m away, tulum ruins 1.5 km away, and offer free bikes to our guests so they can use them. There are plenty of things to see and our location has great advanatges to visit other places. We will keep on working on the imperfections you highlitghed so hopefully next time we can give you a better experience. This is your home in Mexico.

Kind regards,

Two friends and I stayed for 5 nights. Besides the good price, the hotel was very clean, stylish and the staff was super friendly! We felt comfortable from the night when we arrived after a long journey. The breakfast is included and very good, one time we also had a nice buffet and after I realised it did not have a vegetarian option the waiter brought me my veggie omelette and in top of that different bread because I did not like any of the ones on the buffet.
Over all I would totally recommend this hotel!! The staff was so, so friendly and made everything possible!!

We stayed in the family room with a king bed and 2 queen beds. The room was nice and clean, the bathroom is a little small but it served it's purpose. The staff is very friendly an accommodating. The restaurant food was also great. We ate most of our snacks and dinners here and Jose was always our server, he was great! Will definitely stay here again for future trips in Tulum!

I can't say enough about the service at Mestizo Gallery. Every single person there was helpful and cheerful. They did a great job suggesting restaurants (in addition to their own) and activities. The room includes a delicious breakfast buffet, with tropical fruit, pastries, and various hot dishes. (Great juices as well). The room was large (we had a three-bed family room) and nicely decorated, and the beds were comfortable. There's a lovely skylit courtyard and small pool in the center of the hotel. Grocery store across the street; short walk to city center, shops and restaurants; short drive (or modest bike ride) to the beach. I've seen complaints about noise in other reviews--the hotel is on a busy road--but our room was very quiet. We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel--we were very sad to leave!

PS Try their Mestizo Rojo cocktail: Mezcal and Clamato. Seriously!
