We came here twice on staying in Tulum, generally the only non locals eating.
Still busy but we never waited unlike the one across the road.
The tortas are amazing, recommend the chorizo.
We tried most things, the Rey is good along with the pastor.
The second night we opted for the big plate of meat and you assemble yourself kind of like fajita style rather than individual tacos which was really good.
We were full both times and the combined bill was £5/$7!

During our stay in Tulum, we were looking for original tacos al pastor and finally we found them at El Carboncito. Good price for good food! We would recommend it!

We have visited Carboncito year after year for mostly breakfast and sometimes for dinner. The price points are reasonable, the food is fresh and tasty and the staff could not be friendlier.

We got into town late, stopped at the first taqueria we happened upon, and never left! We kept meaning to try the place across the street that is famous for their pastor, but we knew in our hearts it would be impossible to beat the succulent pastor with fresh, ripe pineapple we enjoyed at Carboncito. Servings are huge, cheap and tasty.

Can't say it any other way. Their tacos al pastor made my mouth do the happiest dance of our time spent eating in Tulum. In fact, the single tastiest food we've had through our trip so far, including Merida and Celestun. 12p...and all the way up to 13 if you want cheese. Great tortas too, 25p...or again, that 1 peso more if you want cheese. Service is fast, waiters friendly, and all the tables are outside. Open daily from 7am - 10 pm, according to their sign. And if we'd have had the time, we'd have tried the Cochinita Pibil...1kg...220p. Next trip, for sure!
