Just got back last week from Riu Lupita. Upon arrival we were greeted with a lovely fresh juice and friendly lobby staff. The bus driver asked for a tip just before I was about to give him one which is a bit weird.
None of our requests were acknowledged at the resort so it took a day to transfer my parents to a ground floor room with a king bed which was not much of an inconvenience. No elevators so upper floors were not an option for my parents. The staff was more than happy to accommodate.
In my room the shower was plugged and it took 2 days to get that fixed... Again not a huge deal, but worth mentioning. The beds are very hard and we were told we could ask for a foamy which I did ask for. That never showed up.
The grounds were kept clean, the food was fabulous, the mixed drinks not so good.
All of the staff were very friendly. The bus ride to town and the beach would get so busy people had to wait half an hour for the next bus. When we went to town I asked the driver if we get picked up here, where we were dropped off. He said yes but it turned out it wasn't. We ran around trying to find information until we finally found the pickup spot which was in a totally different area....Just got back last week from Riu Lupita. The Steak House was very good as well as the Mexican restaurant. There were a couple of bbq nights which was really great as well.
Probably my biggest complaint is there are no smoking sections. People smoke everywhere except inside the restaurants. They smoke in the bar, at the pools, on the balconies, at the beach. There was no getting away from it. Couldn't even sit in a beach chair without standing on cigarette butts in the sand. Nasty.
This is my second all inclusive in Mexico and I did not experience that at the other resort so it was very noticeable to me here. So if you don't like smoke you'll want to go somewhere else.
Otherwise, the resort itself is kept clean and it's a nice little place to hang out for a week. Really loved the friendly people!! Can't say enough about how wonderful they are.More
