We checked in about 4 on Friday afternoon, Sylvia was there to meet us way ahead of time. She took the time to show us through the house explaining all the necessary information to live there for a week. We also enjoyed the bottle of wine and the fruit she left us... We really enjoyed the location close to Santa Ana Park, just a few blocks from the Mercado. The walk down callee 62 or 60 always brought a nice surprise... a church, a park or just a local Gathering Spot, It was great!
The house itself was everything that shows on the website and more. Air conditioning works fantastic if you need it. We were fortunate and seldom used it. Highly recommend this house.
As all the other reviews have pointed out, this place is a gem. We were two couples and we had all the space we needed. The pool is lovely, the location is perfect and Merida is a fascinating city. Check out the nearby bar, La Negrita, which looks a bit rowdy from the outside, but turns out to be filled with warm and welcoming locals. Sylvia was charming and helpful. She offered to have a cleaning person come mid-week but we didn't want to spend the time to hang around while she was there. She also offered to have a stove repair guy come to fix a problem with excess carbon coming through the gas jets which blackens the pan bottoms and is hard to remove, but we again preferred not to wait around for him because we were so delighted with the city and wanted to get up and out early. Silvia started us out with eggs, juice, cereal and flowers. Quite a welcome!
The house oozed charm and was extremely comfortable and well stocked. Sylvia, the manager, supplied us with juice, milk, eggs, etc to get us started along with fresh flowers. The location is great...quiet for sleeping but near the center of Merida. A few more instructions would have been helpful, e.g. There was no checkout time listed, we weren't warned about the clear stoppers in the shower, how to work the TV. While somewhat minor, thecausedsome concern. Overall, we recommend the house and Merida.
Four of us stayed at Casa Granada for 12 days. It was the perfect venue from which to explore an interesting area and a surprising city. Merida is both a working city and a cultural capital with nightly events, most of them free. There are excellent restaurants, good markets, and charming squares, many within walking distance of Casa Granada. One of our group had mobility problems, and we easily found taxis to take us wherever we wanted to go, at a very modest price.
The house is all on one level, exquisitely decorated and accessible. We enjoyed cooking in the well-appointed kitchen, eating in the lovely dining room, and lounging in the living room. A storm had knocked the wi-fi out just before we arrived, but Silvia got the repairman there and stayed till it was working. She also supplied us with a generous basket of fresh fruit and vegetables and cheerfully recommended two new restaurants. We added her ideas to the very helpful notebook that gives tips about the house and the neighborhood. In fact, Delphia and Silvia have thought of just about everything a traveler could want, so don't worry about forgetting something; it will be there for you! There were maps, a cell phone, dvds to watch, books to read, an iron, etc. It's all there.
And such an aesthetically pleasing house. On a busy street, the house inside is private, calm and beautiful. The pool is refreshing after a hot day exploring the ruins But you may be tempted to leave the exploring to others and just stay at Casa Granada.

This is a lovely, traditional home that is well stocked and beautifully appointed. The plain front doors bely the lovely home within. We were greeted with wine and a bowl of treats by the manager, Silvia, who stays connected via email throughout the stay. Walking to many sites is an easy task. Taxis and buses are readily available as well. I only wish we had a second chaise on the patio. We enjoyed the pool.
