This hotel is not bang up to date in terms of decor. However, the staff are very helpful and pleasant, the rooms are clean and adequate and it is VERY convenient for the bus station if you intend to leave Cancun the morning after you arrive on the plane.

As our favourite hotel was full, we booked this hotel through a deal for a couple of nights before flying back home.
The room was a fair size, the bathroom small, the TV was a big vintage thing from the 90s and there was internet only downstairs in front of the reception (what hotel cannot afford to install a few routers nowadays?). Worse of all there was a terrible smell of sewage coming from under the basin.
Also the overzealous members of staff tend to knock on your door at 8 o'clock in the morning to see if you're out so they can tidy the room, so forget about sleeping 'late'...
Plus points: the bed and the pillows were comfortable, the sheets nice and clean and it was quiet.
The deco is quite kitsch, there is not an inch of wall that has not been decorated with pictures of temples, pyramids, quotations, scenes of Aztec life.....I understand some people might find it attractive, but it was a bit too much for us.
Overall we got the impression that the place is not well maintained and therefore the prices they ask are not justified.

Stayed at this Hotel for 2 nights on my way to my other destinations.
The hotel is somewhat old but not bad, rooms are clean and the Mayan architecture is lovely.
The pool is the most outstanding aspect of this hotel and where i spent most of my time.
Wifi is available, i have no idea if breakfast is included i never got up in time, neither did i make any inquiries as to its availabilty for free or for purchase.
With a little TLC this hotel could become one of the top players in Downtown Cancun.
Staff was polite and professional...i would stay here again.

Last year we also stayed at this downtown, inexpensive Cancun Hotel. This year we noticed some changes and not all for the better. This year the front desk staff was nearly all non-English speaking. We often played charades to get our point across. Last year there was always someone who spoke English.
Also there use to be water coolers on each floor that you could fill up a bottle but they are gone this year. Unfortunately.
Last year breakfast was included but not this year. These are small things but they make a difference.
We also had to change our room as the air conditioner leaked and was a safety hazard.
We did have a pleasant stay despite these things. The hotel is interesting architecture. The pool was clean but the washrooms were rarely open. We had to go into the restaurant for that.
There are quite a few little thing that could be done to the grounds to make it more functional/pleasant. ie: have someone clean off the tables each day outside; set up the large courtyard with chairs and tables just to name a few things.
Wi-Fi is available in the lobby area.
There are many nice restaurant in close proximity. Inexpensive too.
Right behind the hotel is a large park that is very active every night with free entertainment.
We felt very safe walking around this area day or night.
It is about a 15 minute bus ride on the air conditioned R1 bus to the Hotel Zone. Get off at the Westin Hotel and go down to the beach or use the hotel pool. No wristbands required and beautiful grounds.
