Hotel Nader is in Cancun's Centro (city center).
We found it clean and quiet for a downtown hotel, mostly because Av. Nader is a quieter street running parallel to Av. Tulum. Having a kitchen in our suite was handy.
Cafe Nader (www.cafenader.com) next door makes good coffee (Lechero or Americano) and omelettes.
There are many attractions, shops and restaurants within easy walking distance.
This includes shops on Av. Tulum, the Parque de Las Palapas, the Superama on Av. Bonampak and the area around the ADO bus station including the Mexican Comercial and Colectivos.
Avoiding the hotel zone does not mean having to avoid the beach, we took an R-1 bus to one of the public beaches in the hotel zone - Playa Delfines.
During our stay we took a Colectivo from the street behind the ADO bus station (Pino) to Playa del Carmen for a day, and an ADO bus to Tulum for another day trip.
We have stayed in the hotel zone on previous trips to Cancun.
I found staying in the centro makes it easier to experience what Mexico has to offer than staying in an all-inclusive hotel.More
