It's a nice hotel with a swimming pool (nice to relax considering the warm weather and since the beaches in Veracruz are discusting).

First night we had a very big room (with a small bathroom)
The second night we add to change and the room was standart size.

The hotel is nice and well located

There are no breakfast or restaurant at the hotel (howevere there is a good one just next door)

We found the price a bit expensive....specialy with 17% taxes on top....

We just stayed at the Holiday Inn Centro in Veracruz last week for three nights. We really liked the hotel and thought it was an excellent choice. It's an easy walk to the Zocolo, the Malecon, and all of the sights inthe Downtown area and a peaceful respite from the noise of the city. It has a neat courtyard with a very small and clean swimming pool. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and we felt the room was kept up to good standards - traditional mexican but comfortable furnishings including cable tv, hairdryers, bottled waters, and even chocolates on the pillows at night, and complimentary newspapers on the door each morning (Helpful if you read Spanish). One really neat benefit of the hotel was the guest privileges at the Holiday Inn beach club and pool in Boca del Rio (10 miles south on beach). In the afternoons we hopped a bus down to that hotel and took advantage of the beach and their wonderful pools. We felt this offered the best of both worlds - a hotel in the downtown area at a low price and close to evening entertainment and access toa nice pool and beach. We really liked our stay and would definitely return. Two thumbs up for this one!

To put this review into context, I was in a group of students traveling on not a great deal of money; we crammed four of us into one room to make the Holiday Inn affordable.

Having said that, the rooms just aren't overly functional. The hotel is set in a nice, colonial setting - which makes for a nice look, but very impractical set up. Bathrooms are tiny little things, toilets prone to blocking, showers flooding out across the bathroom. Bedroom floors are tiled and cold; and while the beds are comfortable, the place is just generally a bit on the uncomfortable side. We stayed in hostels for $6 a night that were cosier.

That said, the location is convenient, just a few blocks up from the zocalo. Traffic outside is a bit of a worry though; the hotel is just next to a bus stop with traffic coming in and out all through the day and evening.

Overall, it was a bit on the shabby side. I probably wouldn't stay there again.

This is VERY convenient and the staff helpful. Rooms small and not particularly pleasant. When I arrived the first room I was shown to was like prison cell with no window. When I asked for a room with a window the staff were friendly and immediately reassigned me to another room.
Still a little cramped and old fashioned but better. Clean but nothing special. No great restaurant but many close by and the small one on site is adequate. Great location for the port, bars and restaurants in the area.

Traffic in Veracruz is very heavy, noisy and dirty, and flows constantly just outside the downtown Holiday Inn. But, if you have a room on the inner courtyard you are completely unaware of the turmoil outside. This little oasis of peace, patio and pool is very attractive after hours spent tackling the exuberant and constant anarchy of the circus of life in Veracruz.Try it.
