To put this review into context, I was in a group of students traveling on not a great deal of money; we crammed four of us into one room to make the Holiday Inn affordable.
Having said that, the rooms just aren't overly functional. The hotel is set in a nice, colonial setting - which makes for a nice look, but very impractical set up. Bathrooms are tiny little things, toilets prone to blocking, showers flooding out across the bathroom. Bedroom floors are tiled and cold; and while the beds are comfortable, the place is just generally a bit on the uncomfortable side. We stayed in hostels for $6 a night that were cosier.
That said, the location is convenient, just a few blocks up from the zocalo. Traffic outside is a bit of a worry though; the hotel is just next to a bus stop with traffic coming in and out all through the day and evening.
Overall, it was a bit on the shabby side. I probably wouldn't stay there again.
