I ate here several times in the course of two weeks. The food here is of a good standard and the portions are copious (I found it difficult to finish a starter and a main, despite being in my 20s with a voracious appetite!). The one dish that really stood out thought was the pastry cones filled with hibiscus flower, served with an outstanding guacamole. That was probably the best dish I had during my holiday in Oaxaca.

Some people are moaning that this place is expensive. It is. But in Mexican terms only. A full meal will cost you about the price of a nice sandwich in London, so unless you are destitute - stop whining and enjoy great food for next to nothing!

We dropped in here for lunch and had beers, quesadillas, and tacos. Everything we ordered was great (and the food that people around us were eating looked good too!). The bathrooms were fine, and the service good enough. It would be a fun place to return to for drinks at night, but we ran out of time to go back.

I first discovered this place 12 years ago, and am happy to report that it has changed very little. Imaginative and creative menu, based (sometimes rather loosely) on traditional Oaxaqueño cuisine. Try at least my favorite two appetizers: a pastry horn full of hibiscus flowers, and the Oaxaca cheese wrapped in hoja santa, which has a flavor that is beyond my ability to describe. The mains are equally interesting. The setting is informal, the service is good if not great, and the bar is very well stocked. Good wines, too. Dinner for three hungry adults, with dessert and a generous supply of beverages was about $75USD.

The low key atmosphere with the best $5 chicken soup to the upscale asparagus and fresh tuna dish for about $12....artisanal beers, great margaritas. The service is a bit off sometimes, but the kitchen makes up for it all.

La Biznaga is one of Oaxaca's best restaurants, centrally located near the Zocalo and Santo Domingo, reasonably priced, with a great menu of Oaxacan food, including soups, salads, seafood and meat. The food is a combination of traditional Oaxacan cooking and innovative cuisine, beautifully presented in a comfortable patio.
