My first visit to Oaxaca Pan Am was a small bakery with just a few seats inside. I went every day for breakfast, especially for the fresh-squeezed oj. Next visit this year the place had expanded into the patio (or had I not seen the patio before?) and though I was staying much farther away, made a point to visit a number of times for lunch. The menu is varied and good, the staff are sweet people (if a bit less than attentive) and then there's still the lovely baked goods to take home. Excellent location in the heart of Centro & definitely recommended.

- Service bad (slowly and bad organized, one coffee was cold, we ordered 3, got 2 and 4 were at the invoice)
- No coffee knowledge (Cappuchino is a Latte Machiato in real)
+ Nice sweet little bakery places

En general nothing special and better places to be in Oaxaca.

I have been buying baked goods here but wanted to stop in to enjoy their great patio and have a coffee.

Actually, they dont offer coffee and that is the reason I wont return. Unfortunately this place suffers from a too common failure in this part of mexico by cafe owners to appreciate that expresso and expresso based drinks are no substitute for brewed coffee. I am consistently saddened that one cannot get either a traditional oaxacan cafe de olla, nor any form of brewed coffee that was not made from the burned coffee beans our euro friends like to use in their ingenious if complicated coffee based beverage machines.

It would be so easy to make up an olla de cafe periodically and offer cups of it to customers oaxacan style. And keeping a drip machine around or a few press pots with some medium roast or even brewable dark (less than expresso roast) options. I hope the owners read this and add those options.

I am saddened that too much of Mexico, a coffee growing country has gone straight from reliance on horrible instant coffee (Nescafe) to the beverage the italians somehow decided to call "cafe americano" (watered down expresso).

The good news is that many other places are now understanding better how to appreciate tbis wonderful Oaxacan resource. Just around the corner on Pino Suarez is a tiny shop called "Cafe" that does get it. Drip, presspot, chemix, aeropress in different roasts are all made for you on the spot. I hope the owmers of panam will see this get theie help and expand their offerings to include true north american (including Mexico) coffee!

Food looked good but limited to eggs and french toast.

Really like the patio and bakery.

This café is probably a good choice to have breakfast or coffee and pastries but not good for a true local oaxacan lunch. Bread is not superb, but has good quality. Service is not the best, but the coffee is good and you can buy some to go. The patio is very pretty, and perhaps romantic. I could picture myself writing a short story watching the early evening rain.
