the location of the hotel is VERY good, the rooms are very clean and for the price range we were very happy with this hotel,. I would say that the service desk stuff are pretty average. but on the other hand except the check-in /check-out we didn't had any interaction with them.

Room Tip: high floor , face the action

As they say, location, location, location! This hotel is right on the Zocalo, and shares a wall with the Cathedral. Everything in the Centro Historico was an easy walk. Our room was comfortable, bright and spacious. It fronted on the square, which meant that things could be a little noisy in the evening, but the noise level dropped by the time we went to bed. Our room didn't appear to have AC, but since it was the fall, we could make do with an open window and the ceiling fan.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. They have a tourist agency in the lobby that can book tours, transport to the airport, change money, etc. The breakfasts were tasty, with good sized portions and a variety of choices. The owner stopped by one day to tell us that they made the jam in-house, and it was excellent. We always ate on the veranda that looked out on the Zocalo.
About the only downside is some accessibility issues- there is literally no entrance you can drive up to in a taxi or bus. There's a minimum walk across the Zocalo or Alameda to actually get to a street where you can be picked up. Worth it, though.

Room Tip: Ask for an interior room if you think noise will bother you

location and clean room is the only saving grace of this hotel where the staff were unhelpful and rude for our entire stay. We are not fussy / snobby travellers at all, although because we arrived with backpacks rather than Louis Vuitton cases we were treated like we were an immediate inconvenience. Let's just put a few things into context: we paid 1000 pesos more than the Booking.com advertised price due to unspecified taxes with zero explanation of why. We were given no idea as to the surrounding town or given a map or a smile. Just a poor little man who hoiked our backpacks to our room. We made the mistake of leaving our keycard in our room when we went out one day and when we came home we found the room had been cleaned and the keycard taken. No problem we thought, pop down and get a new one. Instead old iron face on the desk charges us another 50 pesos to re-swipe a plastic card in a machine. Seems reasonable! They also have tonnes of wifi routers. Tonnes. HMV 1/2/3/4/5/6/7 blah blah. It's just that none of them work. If you complain you will get the same gormless, motionless face as a statue as you get from any other request. It's cold throughout and has no warmth in either it's decor, ambience or personnel. And plus all the expenses it's totally overpriced. Do yourself a favour and avoid it.

Location was excellent, right on the Zocalo, but do take earplugs if you don't like noise. All the sights and sites of Oaxaca are within easy walking distance. The rooms were very comfortable and not as noisy as we'd feared from other reviews. We had excellent air con (which was also contrary to other reviews). A great place to stay for the Muertos celebrations.

WiFi in the rooms is a myth, but is available near the lobby if you're the patient type.

Room Tip: As high up as possible, not facing the Zocalo will be the quietest.

I stayed here as part of a small group tour. First I'll just say that the staff was very friendly and housekeeping was very prompt. The room and bathroom seemed updated and everything was clean. The shower was huge (no tub). There was an in room safe. The television was fine (we were able to watch the Cubs win). You can't beat the location, very central for exploration.

Special mention must go to the pancakes at breakfast. They were EXCELLENT!

Now, the beds were on the hard side, but this is a matter of personal preference. The Zocalo was noisy and there was construction going on at the church next door, but I can sleep through anything. There wasn't a lot of hot water in the evenings. Wifi was spotty- this is the one major drawback.
