I stayed here as part of a small group tour. First I'll just say that the staff was very friendly and housekeeping was very prompt. The room and bathroom seemed updated and everything was clean. The shower was huge (no tub). There was an in room safe. The television was fine (we were able to watch the Cubs win). You can't beat the location, very central for exploration.

Special mention must go to the pancakes at breakfast. They were EXCELLENT!

Now, the beds were on the hard side, but this is a matter of personal preference. The Zocalo was noisy and there was construction going on at the church next door, but I can sleep through anything. There wasn't a lot of hot water in the evenings. Wifi was spotty- this is the one major drawback.

Stayed for 5 nights, room are not renewed, are clean including the restroom. Deficient hot water in the shower. Has soap, shampoo and hair dryer. Beds average not very comfortable. TV old. Air conditioner OK. Has room service. Restaurant is OK, quality of breakfast average. Overall price good for an old Hotel. The presence of protesters did not cause any problems. Staff and service within the Hotel was good. Most likely will never return to this Hotel on a next visit to Oaxaca.

We have spent 2x two nights in this hotel. Good beds and airco, gooooood shower and right in the middle of all down town activities. All prime locations at walking distance, but it is quite noisy. Nothing really bothering, we fell asleep like angels but for some the music on the squares surrounding the hotel might be a bit too much. But once you have your mind set adopted to this, it is really a nice hotel with good value for money.
Parking (safe) is a few blocks away and is free between 2030 and 0830lt. Outside those hours you pay.
For breakfast we went to one of the many terraces surrounding the square because the restaurant at the hotel didn't look quite attractive.

The location of this hotel is in the heart of the thriving Zocolo. After a hot ride in an unconditioned taxi from the Sierra Norte, the room was paradise. The lobby staff were very friendly and accommodating. The architecture of the building was marvelous, with marble and fancy designs and decorations. Our room was spotless, with remote controlled a/c and a fan. The bathroom was spacious and clean, although the shower drain was off to the side. The bed and pillows were super comfy. But, the nightlife does not stop until about 1:30am, even on Sundays! On Fridays and Saturdays there is live music that goes until 1am in the bar area of the hotel.. It was so loud in our room on the first floor, it was as if we were still downstairs listening to it. This is a perfect place to stay if you're a party person or a night owl, as you'll be guaranteed quiet from 2am to 11am! Perhaps if you do not face directly out onto the square but out to the street there might be less noise. If you want a quieter place, although I don't know downtown Oaxaca very well, I know there are to comparable hotels close to the Zocolo and thriving night life, but night right in it. I was thrilled with it until I had to sleep!

Can't beat the location for people watching. Yes, it's noisy, but it's definitely where the action is, and the noise usually tapers off when you're ready to go to bed. We spent over a week here for the radish festival and enjoyed watching the processions on Christmas eve from a balcony overlooking the festivities. Internet is indeed spotty, but usable, staff is friendly, and the rooms are clean. Want something nicer? There is at least one hotel in town that will run you over $500 per night. You get what you pay for, in this case location.
