My double rooms was spacious. Rooms have only the essentials. Breakfast was simple but it had plenty of fresh fruit and also a couple of hot dishes plus bread/toast. Coffee wasn't that great but a few blocks away is Café Brújula, with great coffee (opens at 8am). The hotel has a pleasant patio and a nice roof top terrace with a very nice view. They don't provide plastic water bottles (which is good for the environment) but have free drinking water in the lobby. They should, however, provide drinking water in every floor with small jugs, rather than just glasses. Reception staff was quite accommodating with requests (we were 8 people).

Wifi in the rooms was very bad, which is impractical on working trips. The rooftop area could be made nicer and it would be good if they served drinks. The hotel needs a bit of overall touch up.

Room tip: Farther away from the main patio. I would recommend the 2nd floor or rooms at the end of the 1st floor.

We booked this hotel last month based on the great reviews on TripAdvisor. We arrived late in the evening and went straight to bed. Immediately we started to feel bites. When when we turned on the lights and pulled down the sheets we found bedbugs everywhere. Needless to say we got absolutely no sleep! The next morning we politely informed the on-site manager of the problem and that we would need to change hotels. He seemed genuinely surprised and apologetic but when we asked for a refund, he informed us that he we was simply and employee and couldn't authorize it. We eventually located another (much better) hotel and had to have all of our clothing cleaned to the tune of $35 USD. We also lost a day of our vacation sleeping off the experience. When we returned home, I wrote a polite email to Aitana management (in Spanish) informing them of the circumstances and requesting a refund for one night. I have not received a response. Oaxaca is a magical place. Don't ruin your experience by staying here.

This hotel was adequate but nothing more. Specifically, it was clean and the buffet breakfast was plentiful. However, the hotel is in great need of an update in that the rooms are small, without air-conditioning, and decorated with well worn furniture. Although I visited at a relatively cool time, the room was quite stuffy. Although the hotel staff was quite friendly, the receptionist/manager understood minimal English. I suggest looking at more updated hotels closer to the city center in the region of Santo Domingo church.

This hotel is beautiful, quiet and wonderful in many ways. This is my favourite place to stay in Oaxaca, but the ceiling fan couldn't keep up with the heat. A cool shower before bed was the only solution.

The exterior looks like a beautiful, remodeled colonial building. The hotel itself is still within walking distance to the main strip and zocalo but a little bit further out so it's quieter than being right in the centro. I booked this hotel specifically because breakfast was included in the price but I had an early check out to catch an early flight and left shortly after 6am. Breakfast starts I believe at 7:30am so if you have an early check-out, no breakfast unfortunately. My room and bathroom were a little on the dark side but all was clean.
