Location location location, I conducted a Photo Tour for the day of the dead festivities and I really wanted a hotel right within walking distance of everything downtown Oaxaca has to offer, I wanted to keep the cost down but frankly this was the only hotel available that could offer me 7 rooms 6 months in advance. It was clean, spartan and at a fantastic price, around the corner from the Santo Domingo Plaza! Silvio Leon and his staff were very nice and gave us great advice. and took good care of our late arrivals and very early departure times to the airport securing taxis. The hotel does not have a restaurant but there are many around and you'll find reforma street your home in Oaxaca, Highly recommended is the PAN: AM bakery and cafe around the corner and several restaurants across the street.
If you need a fancy room to be able to sleep there are many other hotels but if you like to have a private clean room at a very low price and later eat like a king and then come back home with a big smile and a suitcase full of beautiful oaxacan crafts and mezcal with all the money you saved, well, this is the place for you.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper ask for a room towards the back away from the music next door, and if you can't sleep well, just join the party.

This place is an absolute value for money. It is in a great location very close to centro. The rooms are spacious, clean and has a functional wifi. The common space is well decorated. Bathroom had hot water. The attendant (and other staffs) were very nice. No one speaks English, and i do not know Spanish at all, but it was not a problem, we communicated fine. I also checked in very late (past midnight) and checked out early (around 5am), again no problem at all. All in all, above expectation in every sense.

This hotel is perfect!

The owner usually mans the front desk and is extremely friendly and helpful. I really appreciated his tips and advice in navigating the city.

Also attached is a restaurant and really neat bar called Matlacihua - playing hard rock music and where Alejandro will answer any questions you have about his fantastic mezcal selection.

The hotel has everything you need without the frills. Restaurants, bars, coffee shops start across the street at a hidden food hall and Santo Domingo is less then a few minutes walk away.

Only downside: no hot water!

Taxi driver found me the Villa D'Leon when we found that the Posada del Virrey had closed. Clean, close to the centro and Santo Domingo. Renovated bathroom with fancy vessel sink and high end shower stall. Otherwise a very ordinary Mexican hotel room. Coffee in the lobby in the morning, friendly staff, across the street from La Olla and a good coffee bar next door.

Location is great. Roof has an awesome view. Nothing else about this hotel is memorable - it's one of the more character-less places in a very charming town full of character. You could do worse - it's clean and normally cheap, and it's a stone's throw from everything.
We booked on booking.com and they somehow lost our reservation for 3 rooms for a night when all rooms are booked in Oaxaca. After a very tense 30-40 minutes, they gave us the rooms someone else had booked who hadn't arrived yet. I don't know who is to blame for this, so until I find out, I'll assume it's booking.
